Anyone else out there (from the Keys) interested in going to this race in spectator boats - and traveling as a group?
I was told APBA has promised the Bahamas they would fill 1000 hotel rooms - does this rate include fans and spectators? And what hotels?
Any info appreciated.....

Hey Jack C. - I was down in the Keys in July and right around Taverneir, where US1 splits, there were a couple of real nice performance center consoles with nice paint sitting in a lot between the roads. Do you know any story on them? It was just down from where the T -shirt place used to be at the split in the road down from Divers Direct. Thanks, Dave Warden

I think I know the area you mean - when I go to Islamorada at the end of this week, I'll keep an eye out. South of the bridge, ocean-side???

This is how APBA gets in trouble. If they really promised to fill 1000 rooms, I would doubt that they will fill 250.

30 boats (end of season race)
4 rooms per boat = 120
Spectators who came just for the race = 130.

1000 rooms?? Maybe in Key West for the worlds.

And then we wonder why there is no race there next year.
