Rumrunner:
this is supposed to be the last year for lambos ans seateks. new regulations were : maximum 510 cu.in V-8 engines maximum 40' length boat reason is some of the teams started to race with 10+ mil. dollar budgets.there is no competition for the moment . to keep the performances near they had to make new limitations and they did. (sometimes first team overlaps the second team after 6 laps.) well there is no support class under class-1 organization. It is an event by itself.Class 1 boats run alone.no other class. But local boat clubs organize small races at the same weekend. there are also class2 and class 3 races exist but organised by other organizations at different dates .they also follow Uim rules & regulations. |
Sounds like Class-1 is going through what APBA Open class went through. Not enough people with that kind of money to spend. It wound up whoever was still running at the end was the winner. Sounds like they are finally going to the similar rules as APBA SuperCat. Maybe there can be a true World Championship again in the future. It would be great to see some of those teams come over here.

It would be great to see all the Class-1 boats come over here for a true world championship. It looks like APBA is getting the weight figured out between the shaft drive boats, and #6 Merc boats, so it may be an actual possibilty. Doug. PS. Thanks for all the great pictures keep them coming. |
