I think you hit the nail on the head! Someone @ Bud "HQ" decided that they HAD to be Top Gun, so pull out the ringer!
I too hope it doesn't discourage particpants next year, cuz I think Miss Bud had that effect on the Unlimiteds for a while in the 90's. That being, fans went to the races with the preconceived idea that Miss Bud will end up winning on just about any given day, unless they broke. This is no disrespect towards Steve David, Mark Tate or any of the other Unilmited racers/teams, it was just that Bernie Little/Miss Bud had a bigger budget to work with.
BTW, I have personally seen the Callan C-49 run 193+ MPH!
