40x60 on a slab with front and rear 10x12 OH doors

I keep:

353/trailer (40')
HD CC (and plow)
Challenger
Pontiac
clam sled trailer
3 sleds (on dollies on the floor most of the time as I use the trailer for other things as well)
6' brush hog
tractor

and not at all congested once you have your seasonal arrangements down

I have another 30x50 barn/garage with huge upstairs for the small stuff, garden tractor/implements, zero turn, kids toys/bikes, all small tools, workshop and another 2 vehicles.
This helps immensely.
If the pole barn is all your gonna have for a stand alone building the others are right, whatever your thinking...DOUBLE IT.

I like the offset (far right) doors on mine as opposed to center. There are plusses and minuses to both setups.

I live in suburbia, 1/4 acre lot with a 4K sq ft house but only a 440 sq ft 2 car garage........I would love a garage/shop like some of these!

A new warehouse development went up nearby and probably 15% of the units sold have been used as extended garages, one guy has (3) 32 Fords under restoration (2 done, one in primer) just because his HOA wouldn't allow stuff like that. I bought a unit in there for business but sold it when it jumped $60 a foot in value back in 2006. Even at today's lower prices it would be 400K+ to have the space some of you guys have in your backyard barns!

Also consider most of these buildings are hard to get permitted in S. Florida and while you don't need heat you certainly need some type of cooling to avoid heat stroke inside a metal building in summer heat!

Look into local permitting and zoning/categorization requirements. A pole barn in much of the country is NOT considered a permanent structure; and does often does not require permits especially if you are on Agricultural land.

I live on 2 acres, but it's a long narrow strip; 150 wide by 1/4 mile long (hmm, gives me ideas).

In hurricane areas, you have special requirements for wind and uplift.
In snow areas, you have special requirements for snow load.
Where I am, I have both taken into consideration. My land is designated as Agricultural, as I have a farm and a river across the street. I did pull permits and now consequently have it added into property value accordingly which nets us getting taxed accordingly, but it also increased the property value.

A pole barn does not require a concrete floor. I had gravel floor over thick plastic for several years, and came back and poured concrete a few years later. And just because you have a post-frame building (pole barn) does not mean you can't make it match your house from the outside.

I got a email out to my township right now. Hopefully they can give me a idea where my leach bed is so I can avoid damaging it. I'd kind of like to put back in the same location as my shed but that would require another driveway off the road to get back to it. My neighbor has 1/2 acre lots on each side of me but won't sell cause he claims it will hurt his resale value. I approached him a few years ago and he wanted 18k for 1/2 acre lot you can't even build on. I was looking at giving him around 10k b/c at that time 5 acre lots were going for under 50k. I thought 10k was generous. Whatever, continue to mow it and waste your gas/taxes.

If I could save a pic out of google earth I'd show you how mine lot is laid out.....when I type in the address it doesn't find it but I can move around from the region and find my house.......the garage is as big as the house!

PM me your street address Russ. I can't remember where you are. I'll do it.
You could just do a "Print Screen" of your desktop when you have it up, and then save the picture in "Paint" as a .jpg and upload it.

Let try this:

My house is near center with the greenest lawn. lot is 80 wide x 190 deep. The light green "tent" in the back is actually not on my property but in the field behind my house. It's my old "portable garage" that I still use to put a toyhauler in. I recently finished making the garage an enclosed REC room which makes the house 1,450 sq ft per floor (2 story). The garage has 1,700 sq ft on the ground with another 900 sq ft upstairs. (did you see all the build pics at the link I posted?)

Brian, For some reason when I type in my address it will not pull my house up on a satellite view. I searched "Ashland" and scrolled around to find this view easily though.

Your front walk looks like it's heading for a threesome with your porch and bush.
