Since you are new to this type of boating, you should know that whatever you choose from the type of boats mentioned so far will also determine how much more money you are going to spend AFTER you buy the boat. In my experience, a center console with outboards will be the most reliable and least expensive to maintain. If you end up buying new, with factory installed I/O power, you should be good to go for a while. If you buy used with big custom power or bravo drives, be prepared to spend money on repairs and lose parts of your boating season. Not trying to dissuade you from getting into performance boating, but you and your wife need to know all aspects of it.
