And I can change the impeller on a BBC a lot faster than than I can on any of the outboards I've owned.

Back when I was still paying for a MENSA membership and knew it all, I had a few SBC/Alpha combos and became proficient with L/U swaps, the BBC Bravo pump was faster, but only if I didn't drop anything in the bilge, and I had to get into positions a circus performer would be proud of....

Side Note- MENSA sent my dues check back last year after they found out I was hanging around on this board! LOL

Building a 29 Savage O/B boat right now. The 33 is a tender and toy for a yacht owner.

Yes but as Nate pointed out a CC will go just as fast as his current Sonic with 1/2 the hassle and more seats for friends in a more multipurpose.

This it the main issue. I just can't see the benefit when looming at boats of this caliber. I don't see where a closed bow, I/O boat gets any neck up other than its great sound.

Now when we get to 90mph + boats or even a cat then ya. I get the need and want not to buy a CC. But boats like that are usually sparingly used toys for people rich enough to maybe own even another boat and is not for the guy who lives in FL and wants to boat every weekend of every year.

Kids these days. They don't get married. They don't buy homes. And, much to the dismay of the world's auto makers, they apparently don't feel a deep and abiding urge to own a car.
There is a LOT of truth here and minus the car I fit into all of it. I have been with my same GF for 5.5years now with no rush or need to get married fro. Either of us (,me 32, her 28). Also we prefer to rent then to own a home. Other than some small equity I don't see the benefit for homing a home at this point in life. Maybe when I know where I am going to be for the next 10 years or so but till then renting is a much better living situation.

The not owning a car though...... Ya....not me. I at one time had my Excursion, and Escalade, and beater Ranger, and a notch back mustang I was building.

I love having cars lol.

You know Nate, ^^^^^^ that may be an idea for you. I think you said your girlfriend/ wife liked a cabin and it wouldn't cost anymore then a statement CC. Sunkin lounge aera and there you go.

What speeds did that run Pat? I asume that Nates boat is 70 on a good day?

Now what gets me is how everyone says they like the reliability of a OB then point to the 7's,,,,,,, still a converted car motor.

Nate, 33 with a pair of Merc 300s, 4 electric bolsters (2 rows) and a lounge across the back. Go fast (70 WOT) quietly and in style WITHOUT the wind and cold in questionable weather. Of yeah, and a fully usable cabin.

Oh trust me.....I like this boat a lot. I am actually in shock there are not more like it. It is the best of boat worlds.

The reason people like me and others don't call out about them in threads like these. Is that there is so few seen that they are almost forgotten about.

To be honest yes, that is something g I would 100% want but unless someone brings them up. They are hard to recall being built cause there isn't many of them. They are a great mix though.

Well a statement is still a dream. Even being good friends with the guys, I am still not at that level of boating yet.

However yes. I love that AT and so would my GF who wants and prefers a cabin area.

Also yes.....best I have got out of my boat is 72 and it was on the Manatee river, about as calm as I will ever see around here.

Don't be afraid to buy, sold my first house for 2 1/2 times what I paid for it 5 years later (pre-real estate boom) and I'm down to 3.5 years left on the mortgage at my current house so the light is finally getting brighter at the end of the tunnel!

The funny thing about time.....not knowing where you will be in 10 years is that in 10 years you will wonder where the time went!

Remember the OB's were not as sophisticated and powerful as they are today so feeding quad "2 smokes" gallons of oil and then seeing/smelling/hearing them wasn't really a good option plus the boats were heavy/non-stepped which means slow on OB power. Today that equation has changed with 300-350 HP silent 4 strokes and the boats can be better engineered for them.

The market is pretty peaked over here again. If it settles or drops I will but I have no interest in home buying in Pinellas county at this time. I missed that bus by about a year or so lol.

We enjoy renting cause it is hassle free living for us. No stress of the house or if something breaks.

We will buy in time but we are really wanting to move to the islands or buy two small places in two separate areas, just trying to figure out what is best for us is all.

We are very indecisive lol

I'm 28, and let me try to explain how most of the people I know think and operate.

Most have their own house or live in a rental that is below what their income will allow for a couple reasons. First is that most of us are out partying from Friday to Sunday, so you need extra cash for that. Second is that most of us have boats and you need cash to keep that operation up and running. Third is that most of us travel a lot, so why spend all of your income on one place and be strapped to it.

I'm not really proud of this but I don't try and save money as I would never say, "I'm not going on this vacation because I'm trying to save for something." This is also the way most people my age are and live for the weekend/party. Let's put it this way, what if somebody told you that you could make millions doing something but couldn't drink, no sex, no girls, no toys???????????? $hit I'd go on unemployment if somebody ever told me that.............

I plan on working until the day I die, and your best years are 20's, 30's and 40's, so why sit home saving money for when you're 70 and missed out on all the stuff you cant do by the time you're that age.
