Just out of curiosity and lack of knowledge, why do they have parachutes on the boat? Is it just for reasonable stopping distance like a dragster or does it have to do with getting the boat to settle back into the water without taking a long distance to slowly pull the throttles back so the boat doesn't dig or plow when coming off plane to fast?

they told in a interview at KRMS yesterday after the run the chutes are a safety percussion in case they can t stop in time for the bridge there have been done there homework pretty good and serious .
He told also in the first run whit the chutes deployed it still reached 210 mph ! that s some serious power !
