Does a cracked block count? Assembling a new 4 bolt main block right now. Hopefully I can get a couple rides in before the season ends!

What happened?

Pez Man 09-09-2014 07:44 AM

Engine builder replaced a valve in my blower motor with a 3 dollar valve that lasted one ride. I have another pic with the valve stuck in the piston, will post when I find it.

Found it.

Sucked a valve. Toasted the block, head, and turbo.

Glad you are OK Joe.

looks like you took your motor out drinking and it through up all over the back of your boat . Couldn't handle it's octane !

Not my boat fortunately but my turbo snowmobile. Notice the nice chunk of rod stuck in the sleeve. Brand new motor now with Carillo Rods, JE Pistons, Falicon crank, bigger turbo and more goodies. Should make a hair over 500hp.

Thanks! Its a yard arm drive jack. We have 3 of them; 1 for Indy and two in Florida. The two outer drives on the Donzi need an adaptor to lift up higher to get the height needed.

Yep...

Same thing happened as another poster in this thread. Case of some wing nut using a $3.00 intake valve. Then it puked metal.

Here's one of the many blown up engines I've had over the years.

This was a 330 that cracked an oil cooler and pulled 3 gallons of water into the engine. Never showed low oil pressure, guess it was reading water pressure.

Grind a nice area around that crack down, clean it real good and throw some JB weld on that bird and rock on.

A few issues over the years haha

Early in boating I didn't know how important Inconel was...

then went real lean with clogged fuel system found out Inconel holds never saw a valve look like that...

then a TRS gear this spring...

the latest was rod through oil pan a few weeks ago....

I hit a alligator in my Pantera a few years ago . Didn't hurt anything on the boat and nobody was willing to dive in and check on the gator so I don't know if he had any damage .

Snap, where the hell were you running when you hit that thing? I want to make sure I'm as far away as possible! I found a submerged tree stump on Taylorsville Lake back in 2000 running about 40. Only thing holding the drive to the boat were the hyd lines.

Didn't want to show my stuff off because first time was our own fault. You should check piston to valve clearance when changing cams. Maybe thats why I don't build engines.

Had a detonation problem with a bone stock 502. Not sure what caused it as gas was always premium and fresh..
