these are great.
Another interesting thing about Mike for me was how he boated. On the west coast its about the journey to a destination. We stop along the way chill out and maybe have a beer, listen to music, etc... Mike comes from the east coast style where its all about getting from point A to point B as fast as possible. Thats why OL didn't have swim ladders or cup holders until just recently LOL. In fact I made the mistake of jumping into the lake off an OL in Havasu that did not have a ladder. It was a not a pretty scene getting my fat a$$ back in the boat. Mike said we don't jump in the water where I come from. :-)
Every time I was in the boat with Mike it was a exciting time for sure. He got in hammered down and got to the destination faster than anyone else. Well unless there was an OL customer around, then he would wait for them. He treated all OL customers like Family. Mike had the Italian ideology of strong family. I remember at Desert Storm a few years back. We were in the new SV29, Mike had to throttle down during the Poker run to wait for Tim in the big OL Cat. Classic

I have two quick Mike stories. I did not know him on a first name basis but we spoke at a couple of events.
Back around 2001 or so I was on a friend's boat at the start of the Regatta Poker Run in Fall River MA. There was some confusion and boats began to take off for the start, including us. We were running pretty good and fly by Mike, he's just idling in a 42GTX casually adjusting his intercom headset seemingly not worried that the whole fleet was taking off. About 15 seconds later I look to my left and he passes us like we were still tied to the dock.
Another time two of my buddies and I were sitting having drinks at the Clevelander after one of the Miami shows. They had just closed off one entrance near where we were sitting and were directing everyone around to the other entrance which now had a huge line. Here comes Mike and the bouncer won't let him in and is telling him to go and wait in line, I'm right there watching the whole thing. I yell over like Mike and I are old pals and tell the bouncer that he's with us. Mike catches on and plays right along and next thing the velvet rope opens and he's in. We chatted for a few and off he went.
Great, down to Earth gentleman who will be greatly missed. Rest in Peace Mike.
