Trying to value my Formula

The used Cafe Racer market is really good right now with lots of choices, but before I can be in a position to buy I would need to sell my Formula. I have no idea what to value this boat at though, maybe somebody here can help me.

The boat is an 87 Formula 311SR1, 40 hours on motors, 740 hours on boat.
Fresh 420's, under 50 hours on both motors. Brand new GM heads on starboard motor, Bob Madara cams, Moral lifters, Isky tool room springs, both motors run perfect.
TRS drives, 72C transmissions that shift perfectly. Both drives and transmissions serviced this year.
Color scheme is dark blue/gray/black in Imron #3 paint scheme, all original, some blemishes and burn through on the deck, but overall very nice
Completely fresh water since new, only operated on Lake Winnipesaukee
Silent Thunder platform modified and gaskets replaced. Tailpipes through bolted to transom.
Interior is very nice, all original except for the engine hatch which was perfectly restored originally with new mirrors installed underneath.
Bolster actuators rebuilt this year, both hydraulic bolsters work perfectly
Original refrigerator works perfectly
Shorepower charger works perfectly
Toilet has never been used
Cabin is clean and original
2000 TowMaster triple axle aluminum bunk trailer.

What is fair value to try and move the boat quickly? Seems like values are all over the map with these things. Any input is appreciated, your not going to hurt my feelings.

Good luck on the sale I like the sticker on the dash, I had a hard time finding the markers or rembering what side to go on.

donzi matt 10-08-2014 03:01 PM

And it's sold.

Took all of a week and a half.

jbraun2828 10-08-2014 03:27 PM

Congrats on the sale!!!

Crude Intentions 10-08-2014 03:30 PM

Yes, it went extremely smoothly. It is another OSO member that bought the boat and he was fantastic to deal with. Hopefully he enjoys the boat as much as I did.

Congrats on the quick sale buddy

I think it went quick because I priced it reasonable to the current market. Of course I lost my a$$, but I don't do this for profit, and spending money on boats keeps me out of the whorehouses and keeps me working on them and learning. If I wanted every dollar I spent on the boat back I would have marketed it 10K higher and owned it for another 2 years before I ended up blowing it out for less than I took for it.

It's all about priorities and I wanted to be in a buying position over the winter, which means my boat needed to be gone, and now I am ready when the right boat comes along.

I'm not convinced whorehouses and cocaine wouldn't be cheaper.

Congrats that was a fast sale, you did it right unload and great ready for the next move.

Boats are cheaper in the long run. Not as much fun though...in the beginning anyway.

I looked into to it heavily.

I bought the 311 from DM. A friend of mine (mohawk242) and I went to look at it and it was as advertised. We agreed on a price and I towed it home today. I am very happy with the boat and it will be well taken care of. DM was/is a great guy, and it was nice to meet another OSO member. Good luck with the cafe.

Only time I have ever seen a boat towed by a truck with two beds. It was almost like an episode of down east dickering. You Maine boys do it up hahd!

Mr Maine 10-08-2014 08:14 PM

Yes, like Sanford and son, we show up with a take off truck bed upside down and ratchet strapped to the actual truck bed. Damn ford beds rust out. I don't know if all the double takes we got on the ride home were the 311 we were towing, or the double truck bed. I'm thinking both....

Thanks, I have a pic with the truck will try to post it tomorrow, haha

SB 10-08-2014 09:20 PM

We have a huge downtown huh ?

In case you didn't notice, DM's is the very South Side of Downtown. The Police department is the very North of down town.

Not even a sidewalk downtown. In fact, it's not even called dowtown because there isn't one, but if there was, that would be it.

FAct !

Lol.............small town America at it's finest.

Red_Hill 10-09-2014 05:35 AM

Are you in Moultonberry? I thought I recognized the boat!

donzi matt 10-09-2014 06:04 AM

Actually SB, it's called the "village district". It is absolutely one step removed from a Norman Rockwell painting living here. It is one of the few places where you can leave the keys in your car and you usually don't even know where a key is for your house.

And yes Red Hill we are talking about the bustling metropolis of Moultonborough NH.

You know, I really like that boat.

Unfortunately the guy who owns it (Yamaha24) decided to create a false screen name to post in Phil's cafe thread essentially crapping on the boat and anybody who supported Phil. That demonstrates a lack of character and moral quality, so as much as I dig the boat, I don't think I want to do business with somebody that I find to be of questionable ethics.

It's too bad, the boat has everything I wanted and was in my price range.
