Thanks guys this is all good information. As for trying to get into a 353 I would love to but dont think I am ready for that yet... I would have to make too many changes.

I'm thinking going from my 252 to 312 as many would say it would be a night and day difference. I know the 454 mag and 502 is the absolute must , but what about the 496? Is this still a good motor choice?

Also, I have not ruled out the 303 w/ 454 mags or 502. Any information on this boat? Or would be better to go with 292. The 292 seems a little bit smaller but I am not convienced with the small blocks. How do these 2 compare to the 312.

Thanks

those all have strong points and I could argue it every way, 312 would be the biggest and great, 303 with 502's next to impossible to find but its a sweet package, No its not for sale, unless you can overpay enough to get me into a 353 LOL, 292 would be the most modern one, 68/70 with small blocks is pretty sweet, but yes it is smaller 303 definitely has more room, We love our boat any questions just ask

I don't know if this is right or wrong but when looking at our budget it put me in the 303 or 312 and possibly the 292, I was open to all, but my max budget put me in 310hp 312's and the occasional at the time 292, at that point there was only 1 or two here n there in my range, I ended up buying the nicest and complete package boat, I over payed for ours but it was better then a bottom end 312 that would have left me still longing for the 70mph mark

888242LS,

Sounds like I am in same situation you were in when deciding which model to purchase. I really like the 303 because it really seems its the best bang for the buck. There are a few around with the 454 mag, however the 312 has the step hull. Does that really make a difference between the 303 and 312.

Now the 292 is nice, I am worried about space in the cabin being limited and in the engine bay for servicing. However, this does seem like its a more managable boat to trailer or launch by yourself (if needed).

Also, down here in Miami it very hard to com across these style boats, so I will mostly have to travel when ready to purchase.

all three will not be great for servicing, the 292/312 will be better then the 303 because part of the back seat comes up with engine hatch, had a buddy run side bye side with his 312 and 454/mags with my 303/502's, or very close anyway, but i believe the 312 is heavier
