Thanks for all the reading fellas the SOS thread was diffently interesting with all the 1st hand stories. its amazing where drives have come i wonder why no one has tried making an all carbon case with titanium tipped carbon gears sounds expensive but I wonder if it would work ?

And here is a tidbit....(condensed version) ( i may be off a little, if so somebody coorect me, its been a long time since I looked it up
An employee of Kiekhaefer Jim Wynne came up the the design of the modern sterndrive and presented it to him.. He wasn;t interested. Guy left, patented it, tookk it to volvo and volvo went for it. 2 uears later Kiekhaefer played catchup. If anyone is interested in the seriously old stuff, I have a complete volvo AQ100 motor and drive in really nice unrestored, original, unmolested state. |
