Is that the area you normally work or are just a long way from home on this run?

The majority of it is out of Louisiana. I've run out of ports from mobile al to South Texas.

Very cool pic.

There are offshore jobs a-plenty in Houston/New Orleans what kind do you want?

Houston for drilling. Louisiana for boats. Basically how it breaks down.

Nice. What do you do? I've got an engineering degree and would love to move to the Tampa area to be near my folks.

My big thing is I am not willing to relocate. I am willing to go offshore for "X" amount of time but at the end of whatever travel I want to be at home Herr in Clearwater.

So in have been looking around Port of Tampa so far. Have not came across much but that's cause I know we don't have much.

Well the beauty of working in the oil patch is you can live where you want. I'm a captain of an offshore supply vessel. I fly to work and fly home. There are all sort if hitches(work schedule) depending on what you get into. 28-14. 14-14. 7-7. 14-7. 28-28. These are days on and days off. I currently work 28-14. Studying now to upgrade to a big boy license and the pay rate goes up enough ill work 14-14 at some point in the near future. 6 months a year off ain't bad.

I must commend you on your spelling!! So many people screw that name up... I guess the pronounciation doesnt help either!! "Fourchon = foo - shon"

lol, I am originaly from Morgan City and my dad worked for Chevron as "company man" for 45 years. 7/7 sucked, 14/14 probably the best one. He got me summer jobs while in college roustabouting on Jack ups.

I've been working over here 6 years now. I can spell most of it. Lol. 14-14 seems perfect to me. I love my job but after 2 weeks I'm ready to go home. Actually on the flip side after 2 weeks home I wanna grab the throttles again. Something about controlling a large floating hunk of steel that I just love.
