I have done this test with my cruiser and it pulled a truck right across a parking lot, but the rope was more level.

I text Mike Ryan (one of the guys in the video) and ask him if it was scripted and he said "we towed the boat with no trouble". I tried to call him to ask about it but he's in England and will call me when he comes home.

A real tug would have pulled the truck over and if the truck was stuck to the pier it would have pulled the pier over.

900hp isn't a real tug. Lol. That's a poly propylene line. They part rather easy.

To be fair thou, it was only a 500 hp truck....so putting it up against a 5000 hp tug isn't really a match unless it's a 5000 hp fire breathing tow rig that would rip the keel off a tug...just saying lol

In one aspect your right. However in this instance we have to look at angle of towline. Plus traction of tires on concrete vs a vessel. There are more variables to account for.

Agreed ICU, the truck did have a couple advantages, and yeah that tow line running high vs running level is a big advantage...and from the looks of it, that wasn't the first pull they made..
