Good Luck, The OL -29 Is an outstanding hull

fastdonzi 10-10-2014 07:01 AM

It looks like the Rendering has an M8 Drive, So it has to have at Least a 1350 in it...Right?? :)

eddie 10-10-2014 07:41 AM

Nice looking. Is the graphic in gel or paint?

shueman 10-10-2014 08:36 AM

All get...

phragle 10-10-2014 09:08 AM

Though I saw a post that it was getting a teague 850?

Wildman_grafix 10-10-2014 09:11 AM

How long is the SV 29 transom to bow without the overhang? I think is was said before this is a glass boat right?

Can't wait to see a west coast take on interior.

All of the renderings use the #8. We had a 29 with a 600sci, it was a blast. the 1350 would be interesting!! :)

Yes interesting would be a Understatement to say the least!

shueman 10-10-2014 08:55 PM

Heard today the customer is leaning towards Ilmor...

phragle 10-10-2014 08:58 PM

Is it getting one of Peter's wings too??

maybe instead of a wing,,they should turn it into a center board.

boat looks sharp

SS930 10-11-2014 04:19 AM

The boat looks very sharp! I'm interested to know the weight difference between the boats done by Eliminator vs the boats OL did.

A comparison between the two would be a great read.

shueman 10-11-2014 02:16 PM

I/m here with Bob Leach and he said the following:

Mike Fiore and/or some of the OL people were here on-site at the Eliminator Factory for most of the build. They supervised every step of this build process.

Mike comments back to our Production Dept is he felt the finished hull would probably weigh in as much as 500lbs more that a comparable build by Outerlimits themselves. Eliminator built this hull to the OL specs as mentioned.

Mike came out to supervise the weighing of the finished boat as you see it in the pictures. Mike and Eliiminator were delighted to see that the finished product was actually 200lbs LIGHTER than a comparable OL build.

Can't wait to continue the build this coming week...!!!

Eliminator knows of no one intending on installing 1350 in the SV29...

Bostonirish 10-11-2014 03:10 PM

So just out of complete curiosity how does this work out for Outerlimits financially?

noli 10-11-2014 06:07 PM

.

Is Eliminator far from vacuum infusion technology? Proly save another 200 lbs using vac. inf.

.

shueman 10-11-2014 07:23 PM

We have used it in the past...hand laid is the only way to go...

Wow, nice job then! So what was the contributing factor(s) to your boat being so much lighter?

I'm sure hand laid is easier, but what are the other reasons for you stating it's "the only way to go"?

JJ30 10-13-2014 04:29 PM

Shueman the boat looks great!! I was curious to know did you guys buy the mold from OL or will these be a limited production type deal? Who's badge will she be wearing?

shueman 10-13-2014 06:26 PM

Greetings all...

I just checked with our Lamination Dept and this Outerlimits SV29 WAS vac bagged and hand laid. ALL future builds will incorporate this same OL/ELB process.

On the weight difference, the lamination schedule was to OL's specs and one of their staff was here supervising the majority of the time.

The molds for the SV29 will remain here in California. Outerlimits will receive a royalty for each boat built.

ChrisK 10-13-2014 06:38 PM

Boat looks good.. is eliminator taking over all production of the SV29's? As JJ said is it going to be badged as an eliminator or a outerlimits?

Obviously... I was Just commenting on the Drive choice for the rendering, Not thinking someone would actually put a 1350 in one, Brett's comment conveyed the same.. Sure it would be interesting, but its fast enough with half that..

Yep twin 300 xs on the back would make for a sweet boat.

Graphics look great and i am sure it is much more practical than a painted boat like ours. I would be really interested to know the difference in materials both cloth and resin between the outerlimits build and eliminator it is quite an achievement to save 200lbs on an already light build. I think ours was the last boat built by Outerlimits and it is by far the stiffest pleasure boat i have ever been in,virtually all our boating is in the ocean sometimes in very rough conditions and regardless of how hard you land it doesn't squeak, rattle or flex. It feels like the occupants would give up way before the boat. The outer skin is so stiff when you close the throttle after a high speed run and lose the engine noise you can hear the water beating on the bottom much like an alloy boat. The hull is so well lubricated you have to ease of way before you think you need to as it doesn't slow down like a conventional boat.

All The Best
Peter

Owner is going with the Teague 825 EFI / SCX powerplant (in black)...bonding together the deck/hull is just about complete...boys were working on the dash layout on Friday.

Very cool. It seams that this will be a regular product for you guys? How does it compare to the 300 Eagle (or 280)?

Is the buyer local? Will he run it in the ocean (I hope because I'd love to see it running in big water).

I'm going to stop by and check it out when I get back from my east coast work trip in a week.:drool1:

That's a Bob question...come by on a Saturday, have some lunch, and check things out!

Buyer is in Bay Area, so likely it will run Big Blue...

That sounds like a really nice setup.

Do you guys have a PDF on this model you can send out?

Rik 10-20-2014 09:53 PM

So when is someone going to pick up the windshield for this boat?
