For valve springs, I recommend you set them up with around 115psi on the seat if you're running an aggressive hydraulic roller. It really helps when you get over 5000rpm to keep the valves bouncing off the seat like pogo sticks.

That should help with the soda pop theory.

So it was operating like a quasi 2stroke pipe?

Exactly

Nothing like your exhaust being an intake manifold too. LOL.

This .gif is great as a demonstration (2 stroke exhaust) of what I'm trying to say . LOL.

Never the less the point is there are exhausts that are better suited for a particular need.

When I raced in the IKF nationals I carried over 20 pipes which is what sucked about 2 cycle.

However there are ways to tune 4 cycles for a particular application in a similar kind of way.

Examples would be:

Running wide open (circle track)

Accelerating (drag)

Mudding ( keeping water out of a submerged exhaust)

Marine (reversion)

Sounds simplistic, but those are only 4 that do not call for the same design

Exhaust valves on 2 stroke sleds work well.

Im thinking of building a 2 stroke marine motor now.

A Tundra can tow a 42 ft fountain
You MUST have a diesel truck to tow anything bigger than 26 ft.
A bravo based drive is good for 800+ HP as long as "you are easy on the stix"...
What cam should I use to prevent reversion?
Brand X will always be better than brand Y
Your boat is worth 20% less than what you are selling it for
Baja owners drive vette's, Cigarette owners drive Porsche's
Skanks are better than hoe's...

Try hitting it with a hammer. It's already broke, what's the worst that could happen? It may just start working again.

Those are called outboards :). There was, however, a speedboat built awhile back which used six 2-stroke Mercury powerheads mounted in-board.

An electric bilge blower if piped to the carb will add up to 25% more HP to the motors.
