Will it be taken down?

PARADOX 04-29-2015 07:36 PM

Just a thought. I understand the protection issue. ok it's annoying, no kidding. For the record it's ok OSO is doing safety precautions. But who on earth (I didn't) allowed OSO or IB to check MY browser. ?? OSO / IB is accessing my personal files and computer without my authorization.

What are they checking with out my approval and knowledge???
Nit picking here a bit, but it's the principle.. How about OSO / IB asking permission first? I would give it, no biggie, but really... "hacking into my puter? with out a request? It is hacking. I understand the reasons, and that's ok, the method is just BS. What ever happened to my privacy???????? Quit checking my "system" and find a better way. !!!!!!
At the end, I really don't care much, but how about if I start checking IB /OSO system make sure I don't get a virus or something and get info on their payroll???? How would OSO / IB feels if I or some start checking their system or browser. It can be done. (I wish I could do that, I would have some serious fun) lol

Go into your browser settings and turn off cookies.

That's all this procedure is referring too.

BTW, ALL sites do it.
OSO has the courtesy of telling you.

OSO/IB is not hacking into your computer or personal files. It is using security software to verify that you are not hacking into them.

You do realize that tons of online vendors install tracking cookies on your computer all the time????

Hum, It must have been a personal vendetta towards boating forums in general because iboats forums were under attack as well this past weekend making the forums unusable until corrected internally.:violent-smiley-021:

Yes, once IB feels the site is not being hacked it will be taken down.

X-Rated30 04-30-2015 09:25 PM

If Speedy sez it's ok, then it's ok. LOL

This is extremely annoying! My ADD kicks in every time this pops up, after two seconds I'm off to make a sandwich, checkout another website, or even do some work! :P

:) well, I was in a bad mood. But it's only a point. I have no big issues with OSO/IB doing security protocols. A sticky would have been nice to give us a little heads up.

It's only a 5 second wait. I have to wait 15-20 minutes for an increase in blood flow to little Jake.:D

Some discussion here http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/g...assifieds.html

My opinion is that it is lacking any visual appeal.

The Layout of the different categories of items for sale looks crammed together and just thrown on a page.
I think if the categories could be condensed into 3 columns with a more logical order it would be an improvement.
Increase the Font size for each category, but try and keep the little pic in front the same size.

Overall, the font is way to small in most areas. Especially in the Latest Listings area.

Is there a way to increase the number of "Latest Listings" items???? from 10 to say 50 or more???
Many people browse the ads daily to see what is new and with only 10, many members will not see what may have been listed.
Often advertisers will have 10-20 listings at a time and with only 10, they would essentially bump there own ads off the page

On the individual ads, increase the Font size and Bold it for the top header line of the ad.
As an example in my ad make " 1997 32 Active Thunder 1997 32 32 OS 45900" larger and bold. http://www.offshoreonly.com/classifi...er-b252_0.html
It will help in separation between one ad to another.

Just some suggestions and not sure if this can be done with the new software.

YES, this site is still subject to a DDoS attack by 'someone.'

Here is a quick overview of what's going on:
http://www.digitalattackmap.com/understanding-ddos/

In layman's terms:
Essentially, imagine you have a small business, and 15,000 random people stand in front of your office so your real customers can't get in the front door.

The OSO members and advertisers are the real customers. The DDoS attack is someone else using thousands of (other peoples' infected) computers to attempt to access the website at the same time we are.

The CloudFare hurdle is weeding out the real customers from the chaff.

BTW: OSO has not been "hacked". It's just being "attacked". There is a difference.
