Default rebuilt motor install... how to rest HRS within computer

Im getting ready to install a rebuilt motor in my baja and want the hrs to reflect this for when I sell in the future. Its a 385 mag that is original to the boat and Im going to purchase a rebuild of the same and install myself. I dont want to have it show like 2000 hrs when the motor only has a few hundred when I go to sell a few years from now. Im gonna put a new hour meter but if the future buyer wants it hooked up to a computer to see ECM hours it will differ.

I would think that maybe you should keep the same hours and document the rebuilt motor. The Drive and hull are experiencing the hours also. A friend added a new hour meter on the dash but wired the old one in the engine compartment for reference.

I just took a picture of my hour meters when I first put it in the water after my rebuilds. Between that and my pile of receipts, I'm sure the next owner will believe it.
