Default Fall River Ma is a great place for a race!

I didn't want to hijack a good thread about a terrific possible event . But any place is a good place for a race Mike . As to being poor, we ran in Detroit this year which was like armageddon and it turned out to be a terrific event . The gas pumps were welded down with steel bars for petes sake.
If the permitting goes through and we can race by the Battleship Mass, then out , how cool would that be. Let's be positive here. You are from down there Mike , don't you want to see a race site come to our area? I DO! And my friends do. And your friends do too. Don't poo poo it.
The People in Detroit brought in a race to help revitalize the area , one might help Fall River a bit too. Not to mention another opportunity, close to home, to go out and get Johnny wet and get our ya ya's out racing with our friends in OPA. BTW, your new Powerplay would be a terrific safety boat .
Peace Out. Brian W

Id love to see a race here, but who pays for the police and ems details? The city won't. Where would the dry pits be? The roadways by the entire waterfront are under heavy construction. And the coast guard has denied the permit several times before. I work here and loved in the city for 28 years. I grew up boating here, the city has no interest in supporting an event like this. They don't even have the city's own waterfront festival anymore. I hope someone pulls something together but won't be getting my hopes up

Team Saris will be there. Really surprised in some of the attitudes people are having. Instead of bashing it, or spreading rumors, be supportive.

Johnny it's reality. Come visit for a weekend, you and your dad or whole family are welcome to stay at my house. Come check it out and meet the people. I'll bring you door to door to the city councilors homes. I know them all. If you think you can persuade them to assist, by all means I'll help you. But just FYI, the city is several million in the hole right now , not including the unfunded police and fire over time budgets and un funded pension liability of 300 million. The powers at be have no interest in supporting this. BUT there are other communities on the same bay that I feel would be better if the efforts were aimed there. No bs open invite come check it out.

I plan on bringing the Kryptonite down for some lobstahhh with Brian this year. Ill let you know when.
Gotta say though....No Way its worse than Detroit. And that was a great race.
In stead of saying how it wont happen, give Smitty a ring, ask how you can help make it happen.

Well I'm not cutting the check lol. But if there's something I can do I'm easy enough to get in touch with. I hear mike Lund is working pretty hard on it, and I'm good friends with the owners of the other waterfront marina and restaraunt.

I'd love to see a local race. I just don't see it happening there. I'd also love to hit the lottery and retire at 35 but I don't bank on it. Not being a downer, just the reality.
Oh ya.......on top of other things mentioned, fall river has 2 small hotels, and only two waterfront business that would truly benefit from this event.

Can you guys list up some needs for the race site? How many ambulances? How much area for dry pits? How much $$$$$ and how far off shore the course has to be ? I'd imagine coast guard isn't going to allow the course to go under the bridge or by the boat ramp? Let's see if I can turn to some optimism. I'll gladly look into these things.

reading this thread really got my hopes up. it would be cool to see some races in our local waters. cant really think of a better spot either. seeing boats whiz by the battleships would be pretty cool. not to mention there is a lot of room on land to watch. i have my fingers crossed.
