Gonna be hard to put a value without pics, these are all over with good power in the 40-60,000.00 range, all depends on overall look and condition... it can have big power and still need lots of work, any pics?

** HELP** Value 87' cafe racer

I have been poking around for some time now on a second boat and always wanted a Cigarette.

There is a 1987 Cigarette Cafe Racer in my area that could be purchased. To all you knowledgeable boaters out there how about some info, good and bad for this model and build up. I would really like a value of this boat for a smart purchase that will allow to be resold in couple of years for the Gladiator purchase and not take a bath.

Make Cigarette
Model 35 Cafe Racer
Year 1987
Engines 540 Blower motors (rebuilt by Jasper Performance) 100hrs since installed. Should be north of 750HP I am told and a mid 80's top speed
Drives #3 speedmaster

The exterior looks good for a boat of that age, was repainted by new owner around 2000. The interior is a little dated. This is the old Razzle Dazzle if that helps.

Appreciate you insight

I will say, Tim's is a great boat. I rode in it, and you know exactly what you are getting. 3's are the added benefit and so our those headers!

Welcome to OSO. It's been a LONG time since a cafe sold for 60 - you hadn't even hit puberty the last time it happened

EDIT: unfortunately probably one of the last people to pay 60 for one was me!!!! Timing is everything

Not far behind ya Buddy. ;)

Cafe's are far purdier than Guns! I'm not biased of course :p

I love Cafes. They are so sleek looking.

Cafe's are at the end of their depreciation curve so you probably won't lose a TON on it the next couple years assuming you don't destroy anything.

That said, based on other stuff that has not sold in the past few years, I wouldn't want to be more than 30-35 on that boat assuming the motors check out, assuming it has a nice trailer, assuming it has hydraulic steering and a nice swim platform and assuming it isn't all the way on the other side of the country from you.

Agree, the deals are amazing and even with good power, a boat that needs interior and paint, trailer and other stuff you can bury yourself real fast....gotta be the right buy

Full Force 11-19-2014 09:30 AM

Only the 3 interior pics show up, I think I remember that boat for sale from what I see so far..

Thanks, I am not fully re-tarte...with the computer but could not pull it off

370ss500efi 11-19-2014 10:22 AM

OK so let me throw a hypothetical out there. Lets say I can get into a Cafe or similar for what I feel is a great deal, $30K or less, now my issue is dockage. I have my 370 on a boat lift and will stay that way, the other slip has no lift. To launch and pull the boat everywknd just is not going to happen and will be a pain in the As* Painting the bottom is sac-religious, but I would prefer to have the boat floating behind the house to jump in and go. what options are out there besides paint?? If the boat was not painted and pulled once a month and powerwashed???

I pull mine every weekend, its no big deal, I would not bottom paint it, go buy a hoist for it or pull it, you can let it sit in water but I would not, hard to clean, your gel will bubble after time and the dives and tabs will get corroded, thats the WORST thing to do... if you can afford the boat, you should be able to afford the efforts to pull it or lift it....

Payton 11-19-2014 10:28 AM

Use an Air Dock.

seafordguy 11-19-2014 11:54 AM

Assuming you're salt water - that is a bad plan.

I am in virginia and leave my jet ski on a floating lift. Pull it about once a month and clean it and I have growth on it. Now I don't care because it is a 4 k dollar jet ski that I only keep for guests to use, but nevertheless it gets corroded fast.

I left my boat in once for about 5 days July 4th and wasn't happy with the result. It was more than just "slime".

That boat was for sale last summer. He was asking $40,000 at that time.
