Here is a thread with a lot of talk about the 90mph cigs. Appears it was 850 hawks staggered.

IDK if the flatdecks were significantly heavier or not, but a straight bottom TG with 900's should pretty easily break 90 if set up correctly (it should run closer to 95). I'm assuming you've played with props... are your drives possibly set to low?

1994 TG with 572CI true 700HP, TRS Huber 900's. 28P 4 blade bravo 1 props. In right conditions, IE wave height, current, fuel load, ect, all things being in line, we have seen 82 on GPS. Its a little nerve racking at 5500 RPM, LOL, engines are screaming pretty good, but it has definitely happened .....and more than once at that!

If the flat deck is built the way I think they are then yes it's way heavier, the deck on my boat is much thicker then a Cafe, I would assume Flat decks are same way...I know when on the bow of my buddys flat deck it feels super solid...

My buddy Brian had a 90 Top Gun. 800HP 598ci supercharged engines. Dynoed in full marine trim. Best he ever saw was 87mph. I was on it in flat water, trimmed out, 82mph. He painted it with a 90mph scheme, just never got to see 90.
I can see where the original 90mph guns needed 850's to see 90.
As for the Flatdecks, I know RMPRAM had 1100HP psi blower motors, and he got 100mph with V's on boxes, and low 90's I believe with 3A's.
Theres a 1994 Top Gun in the classifieds with Hawk 600's and bravos, that states Top Speed at 75mph.
