I personally never had an issue with storing a boat in a cold environment. It's moisture that bothered me the most. After looking into manufactured carports, I concluded, l need to make my own since most aren't designed for snow and if so very little. Plus, I was feeling the need to build something. Subsequently, I decided to make a "boat port" to help protect my boats from the environment. After 11lbs of wire, a tank of gas and about 110 hours I end up with this. Designed to be expandable too.

Nice work Andy! Looks like lots of welding.
I`m better at making things out of wood, the stairs and deck are the best thing since sliced bread at working on the boat.
Had a buddy put a 20' beam up there for engine pulling too

As cold as it looks with snow on the ground, I hope for your sake, you are putting walls up. I woke up and it's 28 outside here in SC, and going to work and turning the heat on. I'm originally from northeast Ohio, and going back to see family over Christmas. That will be enough cold weather for me as long as there's snow I'm ok. I miss the winter snow sports. If anyone; needs some engine work, I will trade it out for some snowmobiling adventures as long as you don't kill me with crazyness.

Don't have any pictures, but the guy I bought my boat from did something similar with metal conduit and a big tarp. He had clamps that mounted on the railings, and a couple of support rods for the a-frame structure. Worked pretty well, and you could still get in there to work on things if you needed to.
