Reggie Fountain had the last V bottom cat killer I've ever heard of and that was a SuperBoat. Does anyone have a 25' to 30' V bottom outboard or IO twin or single that can take down cats of the same size consistently?

Interesting I'm the first admit I don't know enough about this performance boat thing to speak definitively on anything. Although i have owned a couple of boats that some would say are performance boats a 24' SuperBoat originally powered with a 250efi Merc then repowered with A E-Tec 250HO and now a 27' Progression with twin E-Tec 250HO's. I've spoken to many so called experts some who's opinions matched my real world experience some who's opinions where just well way off the mark in my real world experience. After spending a couple months in my new rig learning it's unique handling characteristics and getting spanked by my friend Matt Lukas in his 30' Skater with 300XS's. Ive finally gotten a reasonable handle on the unique handling of the Progression enough so to safely hold the peddle wide open for pretty much as long as Id like. First chance I had to really run the boat in a competitive environment was the CT River run where I happened unbeknownst to me to be in a breakaway group of 4 boats leaving out of Old Saybrook me in the Progression a totally awesome driver in a 21' Velocity with a 300x Ben with one passenger another guy running a 21' Shadow with a 300X With two passengers. Out front after sweeping the crowd by about ten boat lengths was a 30' Spectre with 300XS's being driven by professional driver Tom Madelena and being throttle by none other then world champion Joey Emprescia. Long story short the Shadow proved to be no competition as we snaked up the CT River for roughly ten miles balls to the wall. I honestly felt that I had the speed to pass the velocity but not by much however due to the narrow River and the abilities of the velocity driver couldn't safely pass him and he no doubt had the same issues with the cat. I say this to really ask a question are Spectre tht slow compared to a Skater or is my boat just way more competitive against a 30' cat then I thought? I've also noticed that either a lot of people are either fabricating speeds or once again the Progression is just way more capable performance wise then I originally thought because I really don't see a lot of boat passing me. I guess this is why I'm asking this question I've heard over and over again how much faster cats are and honestly it makes sense I as well am once I've fully enjoyed the Progression plan on trying out a out board cat next. Guys really looking for information on Vee vs cat with real world knowledge thanks.....

I honestly believe I'll be very very close if not just a couple mph off that speed with the right props and I'm running 250HO's..
