Grand Haven Results?

Anyone have the Grand Haven results?

flylevel 09-01-2002 07:51 PM

F1 = Full Tilt Racing
F2 = Lets Play ? Hatchers Brothers Won
B1= Yardarm
Open =Cat Can Do
A= Grumpy Old Men

Can't remeber the rest :mad: The first sign of old age!!! Give me a minute and I'll remeber.

Waterfoul 09-01-2002 08:10 PM

Cat Can Do blew a motor after taking the checkered flag on the last lap just before heading back down the channel. Port motor this time. Yesterday it was the starboard side!!!

Anyone know what happened to the 111 Baker Engineering boat???

Waterfoul,
Cat Can Do came by popping the last two laps. I was surprised they were still on it. It was nice how they made the wide turns out by the spectators after the 111 boat broke. That was the closest racing I have ever seen.
Dan

BTW, Is there going to be a photo section for this race? I hate to load the thread with pictures.

Great pictures Candyman!! We were sitting on turn 2 and saw some great action!! I agree, great of Cat Can Do to run it out wide for the spectators!! My kids loved it!!

Grand Haven Race

Stood on the beach :( Weather was great :cool: Girls in bikinis ;) Race was fun :p
Have some nice pictures but don't have a clue how to post em' can you help?

An airplane prop looks similar to a boat prop....so why can't a plane go through the water if a boat can fly through the air?

georges 09-02-2002 11:24 AM

Great race! I have never seen so many spectator boats (even in florida), as there were coming through the channel after the race yesterday!. They say there was over 4000 spectator boats!:eek: :cool: :D

dyno 09-02-2002 06:33 PM

Great day for a Race!!!!!we had the best seat in the house....tow boat 5 until an A class broke right in front of us and I had to go to work.....Damn ! it took me the better part of an hour to get him to the launch and then back out to the course! But a great time had by all!! and the tow got my boat on the front page of the Muskegon Chronicle.....

Whitey 09-02-2002 06:49 PM

I thought Twisted Sticks beat tsunami to win thier race?

Bill272 09-02-2002 07:08 PM

We saw Let's Play heading east on I-696 about 6:30-7:00 pm today. Glad to hear they came out winners in their class. Great pictures, Candyman.

candyman35 09-02-2002 07:11 PM

Flylevel,
Let me know what you want and I'll email you the image. My untouched shots are around a Meg. Do you have a high-speed connection? My Email is [email protected].

SYNERGYN,
Your pictures need to be downsized to 480 X 360 pixels. You can do this in PhotoShop. I save mine at a quality of five. When you are posting go to the attach file section at the bottom of the page. Click Browse and go to the file you want to post. Double click that file and it will appear in the window. Click submit and you’re finished.

Dan. great pics as usual.

I'll post mine tomorrow.

That was a great race! My wife, who wasn't very interested in seeing the race, watched from shore. She loved it and got some great pics too.

Cord 09-03-2002 07:44 AM

Hey, it was great to see everybody again! And rest assured that the curse 'o' Cord is still alive and well! So who wants us on their boat next year? There's no way we're bringing ours over! :p :D

Rambunctious 09-03-2002 08:40 AM

just glad I was on the up river side of the tow rope again Cord:D

Our "seats" were awesome too. we were race patrol just after the dog leg. Cat can do ran wide and so close to us we could feel the engines in our chest as they passed. We didn't do anything all day but troll back and forth and drift. the coast guard aux was busy moving people out and we were splitting the distance between the spectators and the race boats. out in our own front row world with only 20 other race patrol boats doing the same!!!!! volunteer next year! it is easy, fun. and best seats in the house!!!!

of course, i bought two video tapes, charged the battery, put the video camera in the boat, took it back out to walk the pits, and then LEFT IT IN THE TRUCK!!!!!!!:mad: argggggggg. oh well, good memories.

what about the Holland launch???

Reindl Powerboats 09-03-2002 09:07 AM

Candyman,

Great PICS! Did you get any PICS of the red One Design boat that won the race and the entire Great Lakes Silver Cup Series?? R-Power was the name and it was driven by a Grand Haven local. Congrats to all, the race was awesome!

MrOffshore,
I'm using an Olympus C-2100. It is a 2.3 Megapixel with a 10x zoom. It was discontinued a few months ago with no replacement announced. :confused: I am still learning about the camera. These pictures were taken basically point and shoot.

Reindl Powerboats,
The above description is why I haven't posted any pictures of the Bat boat. There isn't enough surface area to lock on for the auto focus. I should have locked the camera into infinity. These are the shots I did get. I'm not real happy with them. :(

MrOffshore,
Thanks for the compliment. I pan the image I want to shoot. There is that annoying delay from the time you take the picture till it shoots the shot. I press the button half way down for the auto focus to adjust and wait for the angle I want the shot. I actually need to read the manual. :eek: It couldn't hurt.

The Bat boat is so close to the water the camera wasn't able to focus in on it. That is why the picture is so fuzzy. Cat Can Do had a lot more surface area for the camera to fix on. There is a way to lock the camera into infinity. That would have helped out.

Sorry the other boat didn't make it on the course. I ran next to you guys on the Indy Poker Run earlier in the summer. It is amazing to see the Hydrodynamics of Reindl boats in action. They look like a blast to drive. If it wasn't for tuition bills this year I'd have given one a try.:(
Maybe in a couple of years I'll get a chance
Dan

Great pics, Candyman! Would you be willing to email any pictures you have of the Cat Can Do boats (the original 24' (now Bring It On #P3-6), the 28', or the 40') and the Baker Engineering boat? My email is [email protected] . I was watching the race from shore, but wasn't able to get many decent pics b/c of the camera I was using.

Cherie, Marc, and the rest of the GLSCS put on a great race--both for the racers and the viewers. It was very cool how close the boats got to the shore and the spectator boats!

Waterfoul-
The 111 Baker Engineering boat was running great. That boat is getting FAST! The motors ran perfectly, but one of the fuel pumps puked during the race. It doesn't have redundant pumps like the 40' (yet).

I didn't know about any mechanical problems with the 40' (other than what happened on Saturday). I'll have to find out more...

Sam

So why can't a plane go through the water if a boat can fly through the air? Why do they call it Hydroplane?

Great shots. I can't believe Cat Can Do came so close to shore. It looks like the shoreline had great viewing. Got any more?

Hey nice pics guy's, But in those pics the water looks pretty deceiving it was actually pretty rough out there, Mostly between turn 3 and that big black and white Coast Guard boat:eek: :eek: Anyway it was a great time and the producers and staff did a hell of a job putting it on. Also nice pic of the P3-16 Backdraft they took a deserving first place.
