These gas prices!

$2 / gallon premium> If it lasts, that should bring Hi performance boating back to the average persons budget. At 2.00 /gallon I could go every weekend time permitting lol.
Or we could see a resurgence of new boats ordered?

extras 12-30-2014 05:38 PM

If you are ordering a new boat you don't give a rats ass what the price of fuel is.

buck35 12-30-2014 05:58 PM

I'll bet a a lot of boats will see the water for the first time in a while this year though, and that could stir up some new found interest.of coarse they will all burn down because of rotten fuel. :cartman:

Wildman_grafix 12-30-2014 07:30 PM

Not that cheap here, just paid $2.26 for regular here. over $3 for D

Ha just paid 2.85 in beautiful Buffalo N.Y.

TooLateVTEC 12-30-2014 07:38 PM

It will be gone by summer.

Hopefully not, but I wouldnt be surprised.

Scagburner 12-30-2014 07:41 PM

Still $2.69 for 87 octane here with a new 10 cent/gallon tax coming Thursday... Diesel is still $3.49 gallon.

Powerquest230 12-30-2014 07:55 PM

Paid $4.35 on the water yesterday- we have a ways to go before seeing street prices. Beautiful day to be on the water so price is justified at any price.

Baja_342 12-30-2014 08:03 PM

1.88 to 2.49 all within a 10 minute drive of each other

chris21hope 12-30-2014 08:26 PM

Here's what I'm thinkin....

Regular is $1.80 here in Michigan, and premium is a hair more than that.

Even if gas shoots up to $2.80 this summer, and marina fuel is a dollar more than that, I'll still be paying more than a buck less per gallon than last year! With how much fuel I went through in 2014, that should save me almost two grand! :party-smiley-048:

ThoroughHustler 12-30-2014 08:30 PM

People that have boats might use there boats more often....I don't think that there will be spike in new boat orders because of it believe me I wish it would. The people that have the money to order a new boat could care less about the current gas prices.

chris21hope 12-30-2014 08:36 PM

^^^Agreed. And really, for most of us - what percentage of the yearly boating expenditure is gas? A small amount, compared to maintenance costs, insurance costs, 'oh s**t, I broke...' costs, marina costs, etc.

ROB FREEMAN 12-30-2014 08:39 PM

i dont know but my last year gas costs wernt too friendly .. maybe a little less time at the sandbar ? although the sanbar and half naked women works for me too ...

^^^ Agreed also..... With a 5 month boating season at best, I spend more on bling, wax, updates and maintenance than I spend on gas!

precisiondetails 12-30-2014 09:13 PM

I'm F'ed in Cali, paid 2.64 today for 87. Still happy but I still like the 11-12 month boating season. Lol

plumbers crack 12-30-2014 09:25 PM

$2.37 for 93 in South Carolina $ 3.19 for diesel $1.99 for reg.

27daytona 12-30-2014 09:42 PM

Chad, You always refer to the 12 month boating season in California. I did the Pittsburg to San Francisco run with Rick Bowling in his Gone Again Talon last saturday. It was a nice ride but only because it has a canopy. My boat would have been a cold ride. Southern Caifornia maybe, northern, not so much. The 3 dollars for premium made for a $450 dollar burger rather than a $750 burger at $5 gas. Should be a great summer. Doug

315duramax 12-30-2014 09:43 PM

diesel is 3.45 in cuse. thought it was a christmas present! only thing that sucks though is rumors about the saudis are trying to push competitors from the market, then who knows what will happen to the prices... :party-smiley-004:

Hey Doug- compared to these other guys, it is 12 months. Lol

For the ballers, yes. But when figuring out a budget cheaper operating costs might make one pull the trigger? Gas prices that soared were some of the demise of new boat production.

phragle 12-30-2014 10:34 PM

Once the objectives are achieved prices will go right back to where they were.

ThoroughHustler 12-30-2014 10:40 PM

Rob where is this sand bar?

ICDEDPPL 12-30-2014 11:27 PM

Cutting my gas budget in half? To me that`s fantastic. I can either do 2 weekends for the price of one or go twice as far .. To me thats a BIG deal!

Well we shouldn't get too happy about the California prices,, new tax( Cap and Trade Tax) may go into effect in 2015 which will raise the prices some, and no one is talking about how much more tax

The boat market crashed with the economy. Land fuel was around $2 a gallon then too.

tbanzer 12-31-2014 02:15 AM

When I need more I get it. Fuel cost is not my reason for or not boating

JWay 12-31-2014 08:09 AM

Just put a little over 33 gallons in the truck on Sunday and the total sale was $49.00, now I did have $.40 off per gallon for fuel points but during the summer that would have cost me between $110-$125. I do quite a bit of driving so for me the amount of money saved on the fuel in my vehicle is much more substantial that what I would save on the boat.

tommymonza 12-31-2014 08:36 AM

Can not believe how expensive gas is here yet. 2.61 today

Bought gas on the water for 3.25 the other day. Went out and have not seen so many boats out in a long time.

I felt the same way when I had a single engine 25' boat.
$100 in fuel, boat all weekend, now a $100 gets me out of the marina and on plane .. maybe lol :angry-smiley-038:

Nmbr1GMfan 12-31-2014 09:14 AM

Since the gas prices have dropped the ramps and waterways seem very crowded. People using their boats will prompt them to buy new or at least spend money at the boat store, either would be nice.

Depends on the type of boating you do, and how lucky you are! LOL

For many years, I was lucky enough to spend very little money on broken parts. So, gas for the truck and boat was the most expensive part of boating. As someone else said, 1/2 price gas means boating more often and/or traveling further on the boat. Of course that is dependent on what breaks!

chris302 12-31-2014 04:19 PM

$1.78 regular on land. $3.10 on the water

509 SC 12-31-2014 10:56 PM

My sister paid $1.62 for regular in Louisina today, premium was $1.82, now that's pretty cheap!

Merc-Mate 12-31-2014 11:42 PM

$1.78 for premium at Krogers in Crawfordsville Indiana

HEDGEHOGER 01-01-2015 12:33 AM

Why is gas on the water so much more if your getting the same fuel as you are on land ?

ItsPeanut 01-01-2015 06:37 AM

My wife seen on FB one of her friends posted a pic of 1.69 near Cleveland.

if the price of gas is the determining factor in whether or not you can afford to go boating or buy a boat then you can't afford a boat.
