Clarion makes good units with all the latest features. I am replacing my 07 Clarion with the new CMS5 double din unit. For a single din the m303 has bluetooth and cheap at 120.00

most head units perform similarly these days. Its everything else that gives the sound quality. Pick a unit that has all the features you want and enjoy, not really necessary to spend more then two or three hundy. It really comes down to features you want (bluetooth, transom mount remote, etc) I dont like to spend more then a few hundy on a head unit its either gonna get stolen smashed kicked beer spilled on it or who knows what but I'm sure its not gonna see more then two seasons lol so I wont be out much

I buy mine at best buy and add on the extended warranty. Zero issues changing them out after they take one too many hits.

I would say it depends on what features and accessories you want, As for me I prefer to have wired remotes, one for the helm and the other at the swim platform. Kenwood has the remotes I like best and the receiver color display matched my control panel, same with the remotes. I also needed a receiver that would take more than one remote.
