I don't think anything with Cigarette on the side needs to run with a similar sized OL. I think the buyers of Cigarettes care a BIT less about speed. I think a 42/46/50 sit-down boat will sell enough units to matter if it's anywhere in the triple-digit speed range.
A full windscreen will be icing and the difference for the significant other to agree to the purchase. There is a reason the former kilo boat is widely loved and it's more than its pedigree.
AMG badged, or not, there are buyers for the Cig fit and finish in a good sporty ride.

Carry on.

Matt, I am in no way arguing but these are pretty simple facts. I know you have been in about every offshore powerboat cabin that is out there. So having seen all of these, how can you tell me that when comparing all of the different companies "full cabin" boats, Cigarette doesn't build the most stripped out cabin with the least amenities? Actually, what Cig calls their full cabin, most companies call a poker run or half cabin...
A full cabin Cigarette is essentially: a cooler, two bench seats, a portable toilet (which most people take out so they don't have to empty it when their buddies fill it), and a cushion in the v berth.

I've seen plush cabins in Cigarettes. I've seen cabins that are nothing more than pretty storage lockers in Cigarettes. Same with Outerlimits. Cabin specifications (roominess) are a function of model specifications, right? But what gets done in any given custom V-bottom's cabin is purely up to the buyer. So apples to apples comparison in that category is tough to make. Both companies build great boats. That's pure opinion, but one I've come to after spending time in a lot of them.

1. Cig has cut trade show appearances (Ft Lauderdale, 2 years in a row so far). Nortech added more boats to take their spot on the HP dock.
2. Cig doesn't build for the boat show fans, they build for orders and dealer inventory
3. The Cig/AMG boat was sold before it was built (AMG was the sponsor/buyer).
4. Pretty sure the Abu Dhabi 38 TG was "bringing a customers boat to the show!"
BTW one of the earliest posters on this thread is a long time Cig fan, last one owned was AM2 46 RR so I would think his opinion is valid.

I applaud Cig for building a show piece and partnering with an organization such as AMG. 95% of the people in Miami will not be a legit buyer for that boat, however it's all about making every marketing $ count. By partnering with AMG they now expose the cig brand to millions of followers that may or may not attend the Miami show. Just because your not the buyer for the AMG boat or any other Cig, it's amazing the keyboard cowboy talking sh$t for them stepping up to give you something to enjoy for your $20 boat show ticket.

These comments clearly demonstrate that you have no concept of what the boating industry has been through over the past 10 years. I don't care what manufacturer it is, its amazing that you can be critical for a manufacturer strategically spending marketing dollars on theme boats, boat shows space, or nit picking the boats on display because it's a brand new boat that is built for a specific buyer. The days of building million dollar spec boats with the hope of finding a buyer that will take it "as is" are gone. Every $ is scutinized and needs to be, many manufacturers and dealers weren't back in 08/09 and are gone now. It's not healthy for the manufacturer or the dealer.

Cig is the Harley Davidson of the performance boat business. #1 brand recognition, lots of logos/accessories and same old product year after year with new paint schemes as the "major changes." The AMG sit down boat will be neat to see but I'm not sure a one off boat is going to sell dozens more into the future which is what most boat manufacturers really need for long term survival.

Your like a cig hater/stalker, always talking chit about cigarette but you stalk them and know about every model, who painted it, and where it was sold. You always have an opinion on how they should run their business but would never buy one of their boats, so do they really care what you think? You just can't give them any credit for anything they do. Always talking up sunsation though, why is that? I'm not a fan of them but I don't go into their forum and talk chit about how they run their business or their boats. I respect them for staying in business along with all the manufactures.
Cig did build some legendary boats in the past 10 years, a lot of them were theme boats which make them easier to remember. Rum Runner was great, it was a 46 but I have no idea what it even had for power.CREDIT GIVING ABOUT TO OCCUR: Cig sells more hats and t-shirts than any other brand!
See, I can applaud them for something!
I just think there will be some disappointed Cig fans when they see the new AMG boat is just a stretched Maximus with 1350's or 1650's and AMG written all over the boat where ever they forgot to put a Cig logo!

Actually you took my whole response out of context......It was a direct response to 39 unlimited's earlier post! I agree with you 100% except that 99.9% of show attendees will not be buyers for an AMG boat. To be honest, I though the Chris Crafts were more impressive than Cig's last year and bringing Ilmor power to the brand they will be very interesting this year as well.

I would only know the FL based ones, certainly don't know every model.
