I have been looking at this boat for sale for while now and it seems like a lot of boat for the price.
I am very close to buying a Cigarette Gladiator so im curious how comparable the two boats are.
How much of a pain in the as* will be maintaining the 1200 supercharged engines? Im confident with the maintenance of the Gladiator with the 525's being similar to my 500's in my Formula.
How about docking and low speed handling in lagoons with big HP in this model?
Realistic rebuild hours and cost if not pushed hard?

2 completely different animals. You're gonna want someone that knows what they're doing to maintain and keep an eye on 1200's, 525's are pretty turn key and easier to run without worry. One bad tank of fuel or "little" ticking noise can cost 50k + on the 1200's. 50k will pretty much completely replace replace the 525's

My vote is the gtx though, that's me personally, as I would be doing the maintenance and know the signs of something that's going to get expensive.

The paint on the other is tough

I've been around that boat while it was at Falcon in Long Island...pretty frickin wicked to say the least. Maybe some of the LI guys can chime in about it. I know it received first rate care while out here.

Used to be owned by a guy here locally on Lake Norman. He was / is a NASCAR Crew Chief. Back then he was pretty meticulous about the maintenance on it. Don't think he was the original owner but probably owned 4-5 yrs.

i do not know much about motors bigger than 525's is it true they do not like to idle? that they are not good if you have a large distance through the no wake zone? sorry if its a dumb question just trying to learn

They idled very nice from what I recall.

One is a 2002 the other 2004 - are they both epoxy boats. Like "jd" said the 02 paint scheme is more appealing.

Big blower engines tend to run fairly cool plugs which are ideal for lots of boost, but they can load up if A/F ratio isn't pretty accurate... Properly tuned EFI engines run cleaner and mostly negate these issues, but it's not uncommon for big power blower engines with carbs to load up if they idle or run at low rpm too long.
