Not accurate per se. Hassan still very much involved in offshore powerboat racing and the driving force behind Qatar's Marine powerboat racing programs. Just a change in day to day QMSF management structure. QMSF is growing and as most of you know has major events almost every month. QMSF will grow to include their Sailboat racing teams and that division will take over as QMSF lead (Khalifa Suwadi) and Hassan will now be able to focus more on his offshore racing team (Spirit of Qatar) and his family.

Working now to confirm or deny this. However, using "We understand that ..." to lead a "news" story is akin to leading with "We heard," which mens the reporting source has not confirmed the news. I have no idea whether or not this two-sentence story is accurate, but the manner in which it was reported raises red flags for me as a journalist.

I have made three phone calls this morning and reached one source who said the story is incorrect. When I reach the other two sources I will report.

No because they are already on their way.

Indeed, hence he reason for using multiple sources (including Sheikh Hassan in the story linked to here) in this case for confirmation before reporting one way or another, http://speedonthewater.com/in-the-ne...g-organization.

It's worth noting that the original raceboatsinternational.com has been significantly edited and amended to since its first went live.

This move makes sense to me. It would be like John Force trying to run his race teams AND NHRA at the same time. OK, on a smaller scale for the sheik but the principle is the same.
