I completely agree....better judgement was certainly not exercised. I know that inlet and if the surf is that big the inlet is huge. To head directly into it in that size boat I dont see how to avoid taking waves across the deck and into the cockpit. To turn sideways is suicide.
Maybe this is just such a futal situation you would just have to swim.
