24-7

Okay, after all the advice I've been given and searching through the forums, I have decided a 24-7 is the boat for me. My new question is, what is the best boat for the money? around the 15k mark? Also, I would like to know what type of speed, ride and resale value I can be looking at?

I have a 600 Horse 505 but I think I want something that is already running and I can add my power plant later.

Don't know anything about this, but it's in your price range.

Also, the user forabeer has a really sweet pantera for sale.

vintage chromoly 03-23-2015 11:06 AM

I'd buy forabeer's boat! Hands down!

I think you are correct. Its either a BRT or a P+D Marine. None the less, a cool boat, just wish people wouldn't go slapping stickers on a boat and advertising it as such.

Guess which 24x7 I am partial too?

The 1998 24 I had ran 78 with 425 HP. Cockpit space, engine access and cabin was a lot nicer than some of the others.

I would imagine the answer is in his avatar. The 24 super boats are impressive as are the panteras.

How about a Progression 24LD? Sure, it's got a slightly wider 7' 9" beam, but with a bone stock 502 it'll run low 80's. And they love rough water too.

dereknkathy 03-23-2015 05:08 PM

there is a rather decent 77 24 excalibur in north jersey. guy will take 7k or so for it. google 24 excalibur boat it is the red one top row of images. old ad but he sold it to a friend who is going thru a divorce and will part with it if he can break even. it is a 409 (punched out 396) TRS boat. phone number is in his ad. i am not trying to steer you away from panteras, i just bought one. but there are other options. you are in the middle of the country. avoid klem jems...i like the rounded top decks on the excaliburs looks-wise. another serious contender is a carrera ss7m. one on long island guy wants 17k or so. here is a little light reading for you...http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/g...4-7-boats.html

Sweat 03-26-2015 03:59 PM

Still looking for a nice 24-7 boat that runs around 80mph with a nice cuddy cabin. let me know if anyone has one they would like to sell. under 20k

Too bad my 79 does does not have a bigger cuddy . . . its a nice running boat.

blckkat 03-27-2015 09:10 AM

I know nothing about them or there speeds but just to add to the list, I know Sunsation made a 24-7 model in the 90's... (24 Rocket) then they redid the deck called it a 25 Aggressor I think? does look like a smaller cockpit though.

Your boat is sweet! I was vetoed by the significant other lol. For the money, I will not find a better boat than what you have. She wants something that has the two seats in the cuddy and is dead set on it. Thanks for all the help and the quick response time!

Andy

vintage chromoly 03-27-2015 11:32 AM

Getting a comfortable cuddy in a 24-7 is gonna be a stretch.
She's going to wedge herself down there one time and then want a bigger boat.

dereknkathy 03-27-2015 12:42 PM

Csrrera ss7m. The only 24-7 with real cuddy.

The Sunsation Rocket/Agressor which is a 24-7 has a real nice cuddy with two seats in it. Also has a sink and mirror in the cuddy

I have been looking on powerboatlistings. What other sites do you guys recommend to find the sort of boat I am looking for?

A "nice" cuddy in a 24-7 is an oxymoron. Some are nicer than others, but they are all small. Sunsation's is probably the best.

I think what make a 24x7 cabin "decent", is the ability to step down into the cabin. The Super's are like that as well as the Sunsation. I know the Pantera sport you have to crawl down there, the SE might be better.

That is exactly what I am looking for! Now if I can only find one in my budget :D

I'm going to start compiling 24x7 listings. They've been manufactured under 20 different names.

I don't have a dog in this fight but everybody likes to plug their favorite brand. Here's a few more pics. A few other things I can think of are cockpit space and engine access. The Super is pretty decent in those areas.

dereknkathy 03-31-2015 08:56 AM

A carrera SS7M has the largest cuddy of the 24-7 hulls. I know a guy just finishing one. I will PM him your username and he will contact you...i think. It is also considered the sturdiest-best riding 24-7. Supes and panteras have a bit more top speed though. His username is seaman.

I have found some good deals on Checkmate 24' boats. What's do you guys think of those boats?

I had a '93 Checkmate 230 Enforcer with 600 hp in it.. Solid and FUN boat ! Spent a lot of time in the air though ;)

I was on the hunt for a 24x7 last year as well....Looked at a couple Pythons and they were both rotted..

Ended up picking up a 26 Corsa..

Another notable 24 to look out for...more like a 24x7.5 but solid as a rock.
