Exclamation URGENT!!! installing motors and need help

We are in the process of putting motors in THURSTY TURTLES Pantera. Here is our problem. Boat is a 94 with offshore mounts. New motors are 2002 502's that come out of an Eliminator with standard motor mount. The remote fuel cooler on the new motors won't fit with the offshore mounts. Do we need special re-mounting brackets and if so who makes them?

THANKS!!!!!!!

You need the new mounts from Mercruiser. Look up a HP500EFI and you'll find the mounts. I'm not sure of the part #s but I can look it up if you need them. Remember you need a port and starboard. I have also moved the cool fuel to another location, mounting it on the stringer is easy if you have the room.

Thanks for the help. We are standing in the garage scratching out head as we speak. I will look that up from Mercruiser. I think we may relocate them also. Thanks.

This kind of funny, we just went through the exact same thing in the spring. We literally were standing in the garage scratching our heads too.

I ended up ordering some custom offshore motor mounts from Gil and GO4BROKE did the rest. Hopefully he can chime in here and explain what he did, but I will give it a try. Even with the new motor mounts, the cool fuel box on the factory bracket was too long and would have dug into my hull. GO4BROKE cut the tops of the bracket off and redrilled another hole on one of the arms of the bracket and remounted so it would mount higher.

Tonto, Did that, thanks

BN,
Thanks, I think we are going to fabricate something today. I dont' think he wants to wait to order the brackets.

Oh yeah, thats LOTS of fun. Gil had nice mounts, custom made that worked well but still needed the cool fuel bracketry modified as BN said. They also required me to install new aluminum L angles in the outboard positions, the inboard ones could be re-used. The quick & easy way would be to re-plumb the cool fuel to another position. E mail me if you need more detailed info. Good Luck!!!
