That's awesome, I wonder how much horsepower it has? If it was just a stock basic 351 it might not have much over 400hp but either way it's pretty cool that it's an original setup

I have a 351 M&W TURBO ENGINE OUT OF A Searay about that year thing it was a 72 though might have been a 20' er though. Set at factory boost it went from 45mph and turboed it did 65. It was also through the prop which lost like 40% of possible power that was stated by M&W literature. Stck set up was 4 to 6 lbs of boost. The owner of Hydromotive had or has one he would crank up to 14 lbs of boost (wouldnt go any higher) He would do top speed runs he diidnt keep it at 14lbs except in those events.
Think the Hydromotve boat might have hit just under or over 200 at 14lbs boost.

I had that same setup on a big block Ford about 15 years ago. I had one turbo go bad on me. I called M&W, they are near Peoria, IL They are still in business just hadn't made the turbo systems for years but still had one sitting on the shelf. It made for a very fun boat.

Reminds me of my V-8 Vega station wagon back in the 80's. Aaahhhhhh the Camaros and Firebirds that it would eat every Fri / Saturday nights brings back good memories.

a guy i knew had a v8 vega in clwtr fla, bought the car with tin floor, 4 link, plastic bumpers, deck, hood.it weighed nothing. he picked a 10.5 to 1, 396 for a couple hundred bucks, and stuck a 8/71 on it, avgas, 5 inch exhaust, what a beast on the street... stayed together for years til he tried to over drive it lol.

The Hydromotive Sea Ray you are referring to is/was owned by "hec2buck" here on OSO, it ran mid 90's.

Sweet old school. Great to see people taking care of the oldest boats which usually end up under a tree as a yard ornament. Seems like a steal.

Mine was nothing like that but it was fun as a teenager. Hopped up 350 with a 4 speed and posi rear. Never changed the look from when we bought it from the little old lady. Dark brown, clear windows with similar to Vega rally wheels. Even the dual exhaust hidden and was quiet until you nailed it. Then the thing would let out a roar, about twist up into a pretzel and take off like a scolded cat. In a time when people bought brand new sports cars with 200hp and thought they had something my Vega was money weekend after weekend and the car never got a second look from the cops. The only draw back was we were backyarders and never put the cooling system in it that it needed (3 -4 core radiator). Nothing like cruising around during an August evening in Maryland with the heat on blowing off heat from the motor. Ahhh memories.
