Excited and nervous
Always liked the US-1 graphics on my '91 42 Fountain but the old girl was starting to look dated and it was time for a makeover. Dropped her off this afternoon at the paint shop and in a week or so I will pick up what will look like a whole new boat to me. She looked huge out of the water before but all white boats look even bigger. I have always loved an all white Fountain and that's what she will be when she comes home. New power, new paint, and hopefully I will keep her for a few more years before I make the leap to a center console.

I don't sleep in my boat, I have a camp in the 1000 Islands. Most of the bigger center consoles have nice v-bunks in them and a bathroom. I have never once used the bathroom in any of my boats. For the boating I do a center console with 2 or 3 outboards is perfect. I am also looking at spending winters in Florida and summers here in about 5 years and it just makes more sense.

Who is doing the paint?

why is everyone going center console? I just don't get it. Am I missing something. No cabin, no bathroom, no overnighting . Insurance is cheaper but that's about the only good thing I can think of
That said I think you rattled of the least used part of most (surely mine) people's boats. |
If I wanted to spend the night and use my bathroom I would go buy myself a nice late 80's F-36 Trojan flybridge with a pair of 454's and call it good.

Seriously. BTW....always loved the all white loo. That is a timeless and great look. |
Wife loved the idea one of our boats had a head in it.
Until the first time we launched it, and it was missing.. |

Lets see a pic of the boat when it's done, I love my all white boat, you can't tell what year it is unless I tell you or you go look, good luck with the redo.

Picking her up from the paint shop this morning! All that's left is to install the new rubrail insert when it arrives and to slap my three new 548's in her and she will be good for a few more years to come! Looks great. Really brought it up to date!!
|
And the dark windows make it!! Looks Great !!
|
Sharp ride!

I thought long and hard about painting the windshield white too but I am so glad I left it black. It totally makes it in my opinion. The only thing we didn't paint was the very top part of the front deck because to do it right we would have to remove the front rails and I didn't have time right now to pull the interior. That will get done this fall and then there will be zero color on it anywhere. We just wet sanded and buffed the top part of the deck. The hatches will get painted at that point too.
|
What do you expect to see for your new top speed?
|
Turned out great.
|
Hoping for low 90's. When we run all the numbers being conservative with the hp and slip we get 92-93. I will be ecstatic to see her straight bottom azz crack 90.

Brought her home from the paint shop. Next up, some serious bilge scrubbing to get ready for fresh paint before the motors go back in.

Looking good! Good luck with the new power!
|
I'd have left her in the shop for another day, just to avoid the clean up after getting caught in the rain!
Looks sensational, love the all white, huge! RR |
Looks great man!
|
Luckily the paint shop is two miles from my house and its all 35 mph roads!

Project is getting closer to completion! All I know is that I am about sick of buying 3 of everything! All 3 engines are complete and going on the dyno end of next week. All that's left is to drop them in and do some exhaust work and she will be making noise (dry exhaust to the tips) on my river once again

Refreshing to see, it'll look spectacular on the water!!
