We didn't really notice it. Condo deck faced away from the highway, and plenty of trees to deaden the noise.

One other thing to consider: no significant metro area nearby. Long drive to get to a sizable city. If you want seclusion, this is a plus. Murray is very close to Columbia, but you can still get seclusion.

Murray is a great lake, with lots of options and amenities that the Santee-Cooper lakes don't have. Santee-Cooper is fishing haven. Just very different lakes for different folks.

I lived on Lake Murray for over 25 years and loved it. Lots of performance boats and easy to navigate. Columbia has a lot to offer also. I would suggest spending a weekend on the lake and visiting Columbia also.
