CG helicopter video of found boat.......ZERO P.O.B....... zero persons on board |
My kid is only 4 and I cant even fathom what these poor people are going through. God bless them. Just hearing about it devastates me, everyone is talking about it around here...

Any large body of water is very unforgiving. Venturing out in it with the wrong boat and not having the experience to deal with the fast changing weather or emergencies will cost you your life in a hurry.
90 percent of the non alcohol related boating fatalities that happen in a large body of water occur from people venturing out into conditions that are already deteriorated and than not having the proper boat or safety equipment to deal with the situation. |
Heartbreaking :(
|
It's sad. They were so young.
|
Prayers for the boys and their families.
|
Search has moved offshore of the Savannah, GA area
|
5 days 4 nights not good .

The boat these kids were in was a 19' SeaCraft, and I read a post from someone that had experience with them that said with the engine mounted there is only 10" on the transom that is above the water line. This with eyewitness accounts that seen the boys heading out while they were heading in to avoid approaching storms. http://www.thehulltruth.com/attachme...78639865_n.jpg Here is an extensive thread in The Hull Truth.... http://www.thehulltruth.com/boating-...ea-reward.html |
I was really hoping to hear that they were found this morning. I could not imagine going through this as a parent as I also have two young boys that live for the water. All of the support they are getting from the community and from complete strangers across the country is really heartwarming to say the least. Praying every minute for a miracle.
|
I just read that they're now searching off the coast of GA and that the Navy has pulled out.
|
Praying they are found safe. I have a son their age.
|
Watched the father of one of the boys last night on Fox. God Bless him. He is still holding to hope. Said there are vests and a large Yeti cooler that were not found, and that his son is very resourceful.
It would be great if they find these young men. |
Apparently I fell for a hoax. There was an artical online with by CNBC and AP, it looked real-and I fell for it. sorry.

Most recent news I could find. Nothing about a rescue.

There's a story passing around online about boys found but it's dated from 2005...
|
Apparently a hoax-sorry.
|
Hopefully it will come to be true. If there are life vests and a cooler unaccounted for then there is hope!
|
I can say without hesitation that if I had a boat in FL I'd be out there putting some time in on the water looking for these kids.

The boat was found 67 miles offshore.......my 32 Sunsation will a full tank of gas would struggle to get out to that point and back to shore without running out of fuel. 134 miles round trip is simply out and back, no type of search pattern or anything. |

I pulled this off of The Hull Truth forum. Hopefully I am not violating OSO forum rules by doing so, if it is a violation I will understand if it is removed. International Marine Service is a business that has vowed to donate profits from the sale of their safety gear to the families of the two missing boys.
As everyone is aware we are actively searching for two young men that encountered some undesirable conditions very close to our retail location in South Florida. This has enabled the entire THT community to come together and pray and support the families in so many ways. In addition as someone has just pointed out in another thread there is also a much increased awareness for the need of safety equipment such as EPIRB, PLB, and ditch bags on every single vessel. International Marine does not ever want to benefit for anyone's misfortune. This is one of the reasons we have started the THT theft benefit that has assisted so many members that have been the victim of theft and zero profit to our company. What we would like to do is the following: For the next 12 months any and all profit of any safety related purchase from our website will be donated to the families of Austin and Perry. International Marine will not make one penny from these sales. 100 percent of the profit will be donated. No admin fees and no hidden charges. This is just one way we can bring awareness to safety and assist the families during this very troubling time. Please take a moment and review what equipment you have on you vessel that is needed for you and your family. Please know each and every purchase will assist the families 100 percent. You don't have to do anything, we will run a report and send the funds at the end of each month for an entire year. Thank you, Mike Here is their website, so if you're in need of new or additional marine safety equipment consider them for a good cause. http://www.internationalmarineservice.com/ |
Unfortunately at this point a good outcome is in the miracle realm.
|
At this point, hopefully we will all learn from this and make sure we have all available resources for the type of boating we are doing, taking nothing for granted or becoming complacent. And if you have kids, make sure you treat every outing as a learning experience for them, because one day they might just have a crazy idea to do something not so smart, at least they might bring tools and knowledge they were taught.
This is a tragic event to say the very least. Sorry for the standing on a soapbox, I am stepping down now. |

According to facebook/the hull truth . com........some debris went past a Cape Hatteras, NC bouy and the bouy had taken pics of it. It looks like either a white cooler/ possibly life jackets/people or whitecaps. CG responded to the area.
I really hope they were smart enough to be wearing jackets. I know the statistics are dwindling but a slim chance is better than no chance. |
The buoy images came out this afternoon. I have been trying to find credible news sources that are talking about the images, but so far I haven't been able to.

Don't want to be a doomsdayer but I always say, hope for the best and allow for the worst.
Given the worst possible outcome, Make sure we all learn from this event and equip ourselves and our kids with more knowledge and the right safety gear to prevent anything like this in the future. I truly believe that most mishaps at sea could have been prevented with a little more education and a few more simple safety measures. I am still hoping for some good news because I love boating and I love people. RR |
There are only so many things you can do to 'control' and 'safeguard your (especially male) teenagers. All you can do is all you can do. From there, hope for the best.
And yes, I can say this from experience. Unfortunately, I've been in several circumstances where all of us did not come back. Stories like this do break your heart. |
Coast Guard just announced they are suspending search and rescue operations at sunset tonight.
|
Glod bless the 2 young men, families, and friends. Sad.

There are a lot of reasons why these two kids shouldn't have died.
Best thing we can do, as we move forward, is learn from this. It is amazing how two 14 year old boys just taught a boating community full of adults around the country of what to bring with them for every single boat outing. How many people were really talking about PLBs/EPIRBs or what to pack into a "ditch bag" before last weekend? Not many! How many of us had one before this, how many will now have one? Their parents/grandparents will have the weight of doubt/choices/actions around their necks for the rest of their lives. |
