Boat surveyor lake Travis tx
Looking at a boat in lago vista texas. I would like to have it checked out mechanically (leak down and compression) any thing else? I know I should probably have the hull surveyed as well would like to know the boat checks out before driving 30hrs to pick it up. Thanks Anyone in that area or know a reputable independent source for a inspection/survey

And I know all the problems to look for from the OEM's and a lot of the boat manu;s - just a few referrals when I was a unknown up here.

Hey BUP the boat is a 94 340 Sutphen. With 525sc and bravo 1s. ~300 hrs. It's at lago vista. I'm flexible on time frame I was boat less for buffalo so no rush to find a boat, but this one has my attention and I want a independent set of eyes before driving / flying down

heck I just was in Buffalo for the run. Anyways I am available Tuesday on. Let me know and what details are needed.
Is this a stock OEM Merc set up 525 SC ?
hell the 525 SC is long gone in my area but I still remember them back in the day in for service work.
Just some specs off hand for the stock set up. I still remember some of it
Merc stock compression spec was 140 psi,
Comp ratio was 7.5:1,
Merc spec MAX rpm was 5200
oil pressure at 2k rpm bare min was 30 psi,
fuel pressure at 1800 Merc spec was 3 to 7 psi IMO 3 psi was too low always liked min of 5 psi.
This should have Thunderbolt IV ignition NOT the older Firepower ignition. Timing with the TB IV was at idle 13 degrees BTDC but best to use MAX timing advance 35 degrees BTDC at 4500 rpms. I remember those engines and they used a Weiand SC at 5.5 stock boost and the SC gear ratio of 2:1.
I see you listed Bravo 1's but asking for the sake of it - does it have Borg warner trannies for the set up ?
I know I have the Merc OEM service manual on all of this so give me heads up as I would want to pull it out of storage if you are needing my services. - we can go details beforehand.
