Default Garmin 7612 and Smartcraft

So I had a Garmin 7612 & 7610 added to my new dash this winter. I ordered a garmin gateway to connect one of them to the 2000 backbone to read my Smartcraft guages but the connections on the Garmin and the gateway don't match. What do I need.

Not sure what you mean saying you bought a Garmin Gateway? The Garmin units use NMEA2000 to connect to the Mercury Smartcraft using Mercury's gateway. You will need to build a backbone for the NMEA 2000 with 3ea drops. Then you will need 2ea cables for the Garmin units and the Mercury Gateway should plug into the other one. The other end of the Mercury gateway will plug into the smartcraft buss. Hopefully you have a spare port. If not will need to change the connecting block.
If you cant find the parts send me a pm with your number and I can call you Monday to help.

Can this be done with a 5212? My vessel view is on the passenger side and I would love to view it from the Garmin.
Thanks

Double rigged, seems like you have a lot of knowledge on this stuff, we are getting ready to add Garmin 7608's to our race boats, are these one's you would recommend? My number is 702 228-2628 if you have a few minutes to discuss sometime.

Obviously I don't know how to do it. But I know it can be done, I believe it is the same as I am trying to do.

Thank you so much for the reply. I meant the mercury gateway. I have had it explained the me but when I get up under the dash, on my head, I seem to get confused. I think that there is a backbone there now. And I thought Wade said I needed the gateway to connect the garmin to it. It I understand you, which I may not. The gate connects the Smartcraft to the backbone, and it need a different cable to connect the garmins to the backbone. Not sure what an EA cable is or where to get them. I will go check everything out again today.
Thanks again
Michael.

Ron AKA Double rigged setup and configured my 7610 and VV7s with CZone digital switching and a Fusion BB300 Black Box Head unit. I can control everything with any display and see all engine data on the Garmin 7610. It even has an App that allow wifi connection and control of everything with my iPad. I stream music via Bluetooth to the Fusion.

Ron set it up and it was a plug and play install. So yes he is the man on this stuff.
