Shootout Thoughts

Well it sounds like Nortech has settled the discussion of which CC has the best performing hull and how about the support from team Double R, 93 Mph is bad ass
Should Low Attitude be disappointing with his top speed on turbines?
I was expecting more from the Pure Platinum boat as well

Thoughts?

I expected a better battle for Top Gun from Low Altitude. Kudos to American Ethanol for getting it done.

The airshow was badass as usual.

The drag race was *****in'. I thought Kenny had him at the finish. So close!

Gone Again ending the Shootout by running back and forth for the spectators and getting in trouble with authority was hilarious. Perhaps someone here can quote the announcers' comments while he was doing that. :)

Great event! Thanks to everyone who works hard so the rest of us can play and enjoy.

Well,
It looks like if you want to be a Top Gun, you need to be running a Mystic.... Mystic C5000's have won 10 out of the 27 LOTO Shootout's Top Gun's awards, I believe...... I went to the LOTO Shootout's website, but it doesn't list the winning Top Gun hull manufacturers.....
Hopefully next year we can make it.

MTI and Skater raced, there was some confusion at first who won but then all the pictures and videos showed up and Gone again was in the lead by a boat length, short boat length.

I don't care what anyone says, look at the photo? Or are you saying it's photoshopped?

Farnsworth posted on FB that he had an issue with a trim pump.

Looks like the film don't lie. Lol

25 year old Skaters still got it. Like Predator 1 as well

I didn't think the new owner of the old Pure Platinum did a bad job considering its a new boat to him + running a drag race for the first time in the 388.

If it was Pyburn, I would have expected more with the new power he's running and experence he has in the Skaters...just IMHO

I got an incredible urge to eat Pop Tarts!

nocoolname37 08-31-2015 06:01 PM

if there is a news article about swat being called to the pop tart isle, you will know why!

That's on you guys. Every time someone mentioned it in the side chat, someone else would respond with switch browsers and upload adblock plus. I didn't see a single pop tart ad all weekend.

The live streaming. Apparently if you tried watching it in Internet Explorer, you were stuck continuously clicking away pop tart popups. You could pay $3.99 to turn it off, or just switch to chrome or firefox and have it gone.

I was the throttleman for both runs so I can bring clarity to the situation. The power for both runs was the lower engine power setting - many hundreds of horsepower less than Bill used to run. There was a glitch with the valet key that resulted in engine stall when they were plugged in. In addition, we had a sticking trim switch on the port engine which limited the trim angle for that drive. Those who watched the run and heard the commentary know the commentators alluded to the the fact that the rooster was uneven - an easy fix soon to be addressed but it still resulted in a speed reduction. As these issues are addressed, anticipate much better numbers.

I was a little bummed that a certain big green Mystic didn't at least make a run for the fans. In a brief discussion with them "we didn't have race fuel" (plenty of barrels of that sitting on the dock) "we just set up for the poker run:" (that takes a set up?) ..."we didn't bring the proper bring pullys" ...Ok OK got it. ..Maybe next year a little less time getting your matching race shirts together and little more time racing. That aside, fab event as always.

Reindl Powerboats 09-01-2015 12:24 AM

We thought it was a great event, and the weather was perfect!

Maybe they just wanted to enjoy their weekend and have some fun. I'm sure most everybody else just enjoyed being able to check out ENVY at the docks.
They obviously took the time to talk to you and answer some questions and then you bad mouth them for not making a run??
Your post only shows that you have no clue what you are even talking about anyway.

I agree with Griff.

Also they have committed (and bet) to be in Clearwater for the races. They prob didn't want to take any chances, take it easy, and assure the boat makes it to the races with no issues.

On Saturday evening told us they were too hung over to make it to the Shootout Saturday. Must have been a "multiple choice" question.

MissGeicoRacing 09-01-2015 06:38 AM

Ten thoughts

1st... no one got hurt. After last year.. big win for the event

2nd ... It was great entertainment ...the short bit i saw was fun to watch. Some kick ass boats..wow!

3rd..for those there...gave you a reason to use your boat and party w friends. Big win for you

4th.... Girls can go fast too..Big win for the Ladies

5th... It's a 1 mile run... Offshore Races and drag races there is a difference .. Both fun as hell to watch ...remember a race requires 36 runs (2.5 mi each) full tilt back to back in whatever the water throws at you ...rarely is it as calm as a lake. and usually your equipment is thrashed afterwards. I liked the drags of the show better than the single runs. great to watch

6th... It's entertainment... better than watching lawnmower racing ..lol

7th... Maybe Miss GEICO will make her way back out to try her luck one year in the future.

8th...maybe American Ethanol will come out to the racetrack :)

9th... Midwestern girls in Bikinis are hot

10.. Other than ego's... No one got hurt

Great job to the organizers and racers in the event.

Donziben 09-01-2015 09:29 AM

I think it was a huge success after what happened last year. Qatar laying down 244mph and the accident didn't discourage anyone from showing up! No one got hurt, weather was perfect, huge attendance both racers and spectators! Congrats to the organizers, volunteers and sponsors!

tom kennedy 09-01-2015 09:34 AM

The shoot out was great ! TV footage was not the best !! As long as we all had fun with no accidents that's the
Most important

Wasted Income 09-01-2015 12:49 PM

I think they need to do more drag racing during the shootout. Me and the guys in my group were more fired up about the drag race than almost anything else.

We had a blast as always. Its the one event that I don't miss, no matter what. I haven't been to any other event, be it poker run, race, etc. in the last 2 yrs. But, I haven't missed the Shootout.

We were on the finish line and agreed on we would like to see a few more drag races. Great week and weekend, :ernaehrung004: to all that made it happen! Something about being in a boat watching race boats makes you feel more a part of it.

I was not happy I couldn't make it this year. First time in about 15 years. Don Onken and my dad are childhood friends and it was a bummer not to be there in person to see American Ethanol run 208 with Myrick behind the wheel.

My friend ran his 388 Slingshot with EFI 500's. First Shootout run for him. Finished 6th in a stacked class that includes EFI 525's, but he had a great time.

Slippery 09-03-2015 01:19 PM

LOTO is definitely on my bucket list…

I wish hull mfr. & power was listed with the results.

Cash Bar 09-03-2015 03:29 PM

Once again it was a great week. We rolled into LOTO straight from Destin. One great event to another. We will never miss the Shootout, even with it being a 3379 mile trip by way of Destin.

My new to me AT ran great and Yvonne finally got to see LOTO by water.

Huge thanks to LOM and PBC for the hospitality and help.
