Poker run likes and dislikes

Now that we are on the down side of poker run season. Still have some great runs left in the next few months but what has been your likes and dislikes? What would be the number one thing to change to make them better? Don't have to name the specific run just to keep it classy if it's a dislike. Have seen some great turnouts this year around the country.

We never liked to follow the normal run format at the tickfaw 200. It's always seemed to work verywell and received well. But can always improve.

Pokher Ace 08-31-2015 08:06 PM

Being harrased for not buying a $800 poker hand. Its nice to do a run thats $200 a hand and buy more hands if you want

1989mach1 08-31-2015 08:50 PM

The fact that the cards where all drawn at the end and not at every stop. I think cards at every stop makes it a little more exciting.

raceboat rus 08-31-2015 09:11 PM

Some of the people that come to your event in a @$+ foot boat . Run and party with your group and will not even buy an event T-shirt . for get asking them to register for the event. Unless you are the Nieman Marcus of poker runs you are not worth there while . . Guest who are not really guests who do not sighn up for the event then tell there friends not to sighn up , lie to your staff and then steal from you .

raceboat rus 08-31-2015 09:13 PM

I love that we can get people together and have them run there boats and make MAGIC happen for kids

raceboat rus 08-31-2015 09:18 PM

I love standing on the dock with the US Marines waiting on the Thunder of a hundred boat to deliver the toys, the sound is like the world is coming to an end, It just Too magical to describe .

raceboat rus 08-31-2015 09:21 PM

I love dancing with my guests , well at least with the lady guests while the guys talkf propellers and drives and the last race

raceboat rus 08-31-2015 09:24 PM

I love that I know hundreds of people who will drive half way across a continent to bring toys to some kids , who might not have them any other way.

raceboat rus 08-31-2015 09:26 PM

I love the sleepless nites of scheming and dreaming how to make this event work .

raceboat rus 08-31-2015 09:31 PM

I hate that that some think the fact that I do not charge an exorbitent price . It is not worth while .I wish I could force myself to mark it up needlessly but I can not, i wish I could but just can`t...

raceboat rus 08-31-2015 09:34 PM

I love that some of my guests may not make alot of other runs , but they will rebuild their boat from stem to stern to make the toys tour..

raceboat rus 08-31-2015 09:39 PM

I have been told that that if you have a problem at some high price runs they will drive right by you [ ignore you ] . I love that this guest was impressed that when one person had to stop 4 other boats stopped to help.

raceboat rus 08-31-2015 09:44 PM

I love that this toys tour is not about winning with the best poker hand or having the flashiest boat , or walking away with a big cash prize or a new car. that the big winner are the kids who get a great toy from you

raceboat rus 08-31-2015 09:48 PM

i hate that i contact some people about this event and they are rude and obtuse.

raceboat rus 08-31-2015 09:50 PM

I love that the Mayor comes on the toys tour .

I hate that people won't even pay to be an OSO member but start 14 different threads about their one poker run event in different sections on the forum.

Agree! But someone got cought cheating. Cards were in small envelopes and they used a flashlight to shine through it and see the card. Would buy a few hands and make the best possable. The following year the cards were folded and put in a envelope then sewn shut. Fixed the problem but was very expencive to have someone sewing all them up.

BUP 09-01-2015 11:25 AM

^^^^ Porn screen name

kind of like - At the poker run party they had - liqher in the front and pokher in the rear

just saying.

Canuck B Crazy 09-01-2015 11:56 AM

I don't like running with other boats. But I like socializing on the docks.

stimleck 09-01-2015 05:32 PM

Poker runs should all have a 0-50/60 class with reasonable entry fees to be more inclusive, they are typically over priced IMO, yes the big guns are the draw but dont forget the little guy. 500 to enter then 100 per passenger is too high

phragle 09-01-2015 05:55 PM

My only complaint is waking up sunday morning and its over.....

You might want to consider the Rochester Offshore Powerboat Association's Battleship Run every July just across the pond on Seneca Lake in New York State. We've taken care of both of your issues and have been doing it for 25 years.

When you sit and think about what it costs and how much work goes on behind the scenes to put on a bigger run, and then most bigger runs are for a charity, its no longer so unreasonable,

jayboat 09-01-2015 06:04 PM

Too damn many boats!!! I can't get to everyone. :party-smiley-004: :cartman:

ICDEDPPL 09-01-2015 07:39 PM

1. It`s always a dick measuring contest, not everyone wants go WOT the entire time. Some folks just wanna go for a nice ride with other powerboaters.
2. If the food and atmosphere sucks at a place one year why have it there again next year?

I don't know why anyone would complain about a dik measuring contest when they'd place in the top group, (based strictly on the criteria implied that is Dannyboy).

ICDEDPPL 09-01-2015 11:42 PM

My turd is slow what are you talking about :bananalove:
Point is I like to cruise not make it into a race.

BUP 09-01-2015 11:46 PM

the boats are faster year after year get a faster camera,,,Just kidding, you do a great job and one of the things I like best about poker runs are your pictures afterwards,

caseyh 09-02-2015 10:48 AM

Cost seems to be the bigest one of all.

We are $240 a hand. that gets you and your crew in for all 3 days of the party's. You get 4 wrist bands and extras are $10. We launch your boat and take your trailer also weather you buy a hand or not. Also no official start and have 2 days to run it. Only 2 stops not accessible by land also. So it's midle of the road priced and no hidden fees.

Tried to take care of all the fees and boat size/speed issues for everyone to come play.

This seems to be reasonable $$ entry fee....

I think you guys do an incredible job and I wouldn't change a thing! The run is inexpensive and a great time.

I really like the official start thing. I know it is not a race but it is nice to be able to hang it all out with a group of boats hauling a$$ to the stops.
