.
I like the white motors! curious if the 36" props were tested and if the max revs was hit. . |
#s please......:food-smiley-007:
|
they ran out of Propellor! but boat runs strong!
|
All anyone wants to know is who fast it goes, why the secrecy???? And Pete the info about running out of prop is useless unless we know the pitch, but nice pics!
|
The speed on the water report said it ran 103 (in Florida heat) with 34 pitch props on the limiters. I think they were bravo style props as well so I would think some cleavers and break in time would yield better numbers.
|
I think it had 32's on it. Should run 110 from what I was told with the right props. Big boat!
|
Nice, what'd it run before with the trips?

I have heard boat ran again today and same results thus far. I personally think those guys know their stuff and the set up was pretty close to start with regarding engine hieght, toe etc. Props are the only variable.
Keep in mind 400hp only happens at 7000rpm. So run more pitch if on the limiters and go to far they wont have the HP to spin them either. Seems like it may be a tight window to get it right. I agree with Steve big boat but 800hp should produce more. That is if it is 800hp???? Who knows??? Guess we will know more when Mercury works on Steve's Skater next week. |
Grant is looking at the data he has complied via video cameras (Replay XD mini's) mounted at various angles to see whats going on behind the boat, in the tunnel, etc. any adjustments whether minor or major will be noted, being the first Skater with the set up. I can say the boat rides nice!
|
.
Would be cool to see the videos of different performance tests on this Skater and to also see the clarity of the Replay XD mini recording device |

The performance tests arent a real test for the cameras, although they are mounted sometimes underwater which they work fine. but this is what they are capable of! Camera was mounted on aft step on Hughes 500 be sure to watch it in HD..

They running merc props? Dewald would be the guys to call imo!
|
With the trips, and one quits, it still runs 50-55 mph. With the 400s and one quits, it goes 7 mph. I have spent a few hours at the 7 mph pace. I prefer the trips. But it is a beautiful boat rigged by an excellent facility.

Jury still out on that one. Cats eat outboard lower units like candy. Time will tell. If you run your boat hard everything breaks!

Very nice. I think the speed numbers seem realistic.
Good job guys. |

http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps9hsvqcyb.jpg http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps8f61dw0w.jpg I spoke with the previous owner a few months ago he said it ran 117mph, out in AZ, with the triple Merc 300X's that had phase 2 DBR mods. FWIW..... I'd think it would run closer to 110 with the 400's, but what do I know... |
That does look sharp, I like everything about the boat, size not too small not too big, nice interior, perfect power package, reliability, speed, and it's a Skater....I am envious...dial it in....
|
I just calculated that the new 7 marine 627 has a slightly better power to weight ratio than the 400r. Anyone going to try them on a cat?
