Suggestion on good poker run boat
I'm getting ready to retire and am looking at traveling and doing some poker runs . Now I'm looking for a new boat to use , my current boat is a 382 Formula non step hull with twin Teague 700hp motors. It will run 80mph with 5 people and that's just not fast enough so the boats that I have in mind are either a 38 or 42 TS Cigarette or a 36 Eliminator Daytona and I'd like to stay under $150,000 .. I like the Eliminator because I can go fast without big power but I'm unsure of the ride quality in big water and as for the Cig I'm unsure how much power it takes to run faster than 90mph . I like the other big cats also but don't want to have to worry about permits when hauling it. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated and thanks

A 38 TS Gun will run over 90 with 575's. 700's put them over 100mph.

Buy Cowisl's 38 Powerplay and put your 700's in that ........100 MPH with a Cadillac ride!

I have a TS 38 TG - Motors put out around 580 hp each per dyno sheets. Bravo XR's. 86 MPH is the best I see although I do not have ITS. Great boat.
Buy a 525 Gladiator if you want a strict poker run boat. They typically run low 90's. Light weight to trailer. Fast and good looking boats. PBC has a nice looking Glad right now. |
Something that is reliable and will make all the card stops

To enjoy Poker Runs and do many of them without breaking the bank you will need: a well built trailer that is set-up for your specific boat, stock power with OCD maintenance, fresh/over-built drives, proper tow vehicle, and a first mate that knows the program.

If I had the $$$ I would at least look at a DCB. I know someone with a 39 TG with 700s and he tops @ 102 in good water.
