TUFF 28 goes 119.5mph with Ilmor 725
#13
That's amazing !!!! I don't know of any other manufacture that can say they run 95 MPH with a stock merc 525. What's the weight, prop, how many steps and what's the different on the bottom that gives it such eff. ????? Factory 1 in its hay day with a Merc. 525 at 4500 lbs would only run mid 80's with the weight and X dem. set. at -3. I believe the kilo was like 89 MPH before the X dem was enforced. Ever think about building a SVL race boat?

The 525 boat missed in balance, and had a conservative 3" below drive height. We build pad bottom boats. The fact is that there advantage become exponentially greater as the speed increases. So in a 70mph rough water race, there would be no advantage.
