It has been proven to save drives and gears.. it`s working as designed. No product ever can give you a 100% guarantee. |
I have a friend who ran X gears in his 382 Fasttech with 650 HP. He didn't baby it by any means and got 3-4 seasons out of his drives. He was a firm believer in the surface area logic.

Its funny how everyone is looking for the "magic answer" to making the Bravo XR drive last longer or not break at all. This has been going on for years! Mercury is making a killing on you guys!

I've found the x gears to outlast the xr gears also, but only with the 1.65 gears. The tooth count is 23/30 versus 27/32. The driven gears are both the same circumference so the 30 tooth gear has thicker teeth. Prop accordingly. The 1.65 also has a mechanical advantage over the 1.50. Fountain did this for years on his boats. I get better all around performance with a 1.65 over the 1.5. Tested this using every prop combination. 30 teeth are stronger than 32.

The 2012 37 AT in the classifieds has them and I looked them up to see exactly what they were. |
