Anyone missing a cigarette?

Saw these pictures posted on another forum today, and it sure seems odd to see what appears to be a nice boat loaded up for overseas shipping with no care taken to it's protection.

Can't make it out for sure, is it Pink *****?

WOW... would I hate to receive that after an overseas trip in October. Looks like it started the voyage out as a nice machine!

Comanche3Six 10-18-2015 04:57 PM

Hope it doesn't scratch that SeaBox next to it, they are expensive.

boomer 10-18-2015 05:41 PM

Wow it cant be that expensive to shrink wrap at least. Or maybe its a lifeboat

unless your trying to move something out of the country fast . . . . . just say'in.

rak rua 10-18-2015 07:08 PM

I would guess it's just sitting there temporarily. The boat is too wide and too long to ship with containers, it would have to go 'roll on - roll off', probably not even on a container ship.

It would go underneath in a multi level ship but why it is not covered up is a little bit of a worry!

Inside Job

Unlimited jd 10-18-2015 07:56 PM

Was it listed at Oregon custom marine in the last year?

Comanche3Six 10-18-2015 10:02 PM

Going by the name on the back....I'm guessing it's from Staten Island

phragle 10-18-2015 10:23 PM

Could be named Pink Butt or Pink Betty

wonder if she is USCG Documented ??

Waterboy123 10-18-2015 10:58 PM

Unusual for a boat to be tucked in like that amongst a whole bunch of containers, unless it's on a 40ft flat rack which could well be, looks like a very late model 38/39 top gun, with a fairly distinctive paint job, can't be that hard to put someone's name to it...

bck 10-18-2015 10:59 PM

I can't find it in the uscg database

Sydwayz 10-18-2015 11:12 PM

That could be the one that had 496HOs in it, and went to Russia or something. That was several years ago.

I'CE 10-18-2015 11:22 PM

that kinda scks story over ?

Working down Port Newark some years back I remember seeing 10' wide shipping containers. Custom built length and width, nice. Available

Wish they had a 10' version a couple of years ago when I shipped my boat, might have saved me a small fortune.
Still doubt if it would fit lengthwise, same applies to a flat rack. My 34 on trailer would not fit on a flat rack by about 6". You've actually got about 39' 8" to work with and that's not allowing for careless loading. Also have to measure from the tip of the bow (or trailer hitch) to the tip of the drives or platform, the longest possible measurement.

I think it's waiting to be moved to another dock or maybe its going to Mexico for El Chapo, or perhaps Ben Kramer has another stunt organized!

ImaPoser 10-19-2015 07:22 AM

I was under the impression the photos came from the docking pilot as the ship was leaving port. He posted up the ship info, I'll have to go back and find it.

Greatguy66 10-19-2015 07:42 AM

:asskiss:Like stated in another post a lot of scumbags fester in stolen parts&boats then get a reward to find it??

Just a quick look but I did see this little disclaimer on the website....

They look good but it's a little unclear, I think they sell used shipping containers (standard sizes) and sell new ones for storage units in custom sizes. Don't need one at the moment anyway but will certainly do lots of homework should I buy another boat from the U.S.

EDIT: sorry O.P. back to the cig smuggling.........

Sy Goldberg is going to take that Rice Hauler story to the grave (and he is inches away at his age! :D). When the story broke, he commented he knew more but "couldn't talk" until the authorities finished the case.........boat has been sold a couple times now, pretty sure Columbo and the boys downtown are all done with the case!

For that exact reason, to have the ability to have a driver and throttleman
