Billy,
You and I are on the same page when comes to Joe Sgro, only you first hand knowledge, supports my assumptions based on my own personal experiences and know. You are right, no one deserves defamed (defamation is written untrue words, slander is the spoke version, just educating here). But I disagree only when it comes to closing a thread. I am glad you spoke up for Mr. Sgro. let people voice their opinions, right or wrong, it is a choice for those who want to defend, inform and educate, or to step in as I did on page seven of this thread. I have only 2100+ posts in over 15 years on this site, and I cannot remember if I have missed more than two days on this site excpet for 2008 after the death of my father, so when I post something has compelled me to engage. I don't have any special intertest other than to see the best for the performance boating industry, and sport I love more than anything. I love this site too, that is why I remain, I may disagree with others, but I do appreciate differences of opinion. If I am wrong I will take my rebuke, when I am right, well, my, that feels good, pretty straightforward. Let em post, just don't hesitate to step in as you have done, I applaud you for that. |

Start a new thread if you'd like to debate , argue, disagree, make accusations or just want to voice your opinion about an old issue , but this thread is so off topic and grossly inaccurate. It is not for me to take the liberty to defend Joe Sgro in a closed case ,nor am I at liberty to give details of private info .
Yes I adamantly disagree with your OPINION of Joe because he is a close friend of mine . But don't confuse my difference of opinion with my distane for your spouting out blatantly false rhetoric and taking a positive thread about the future of a boat building co and turning it into a debate of character. Obviously $850k is more than you would spend on a defense , a year of your time, and the stress it would put on your family, friends, employees ,and business. To a person of Joe's financial means it's a drop in the bucket. As for your continuous statement of " innocent people don't pay if they are innocent" you have A LOT to learn about the legal system , especially in Nassau/ Suffolk county. NYS Judge Sol Wachtler coined the phase " you can inditite a ham sandwich, if that's what you wanted" . Another thing that any 1st year law student know is , your chances at trial are 50/50. We all KNEW OJ Simpson was guilty , low and behold found innocent. Ever get a traffic ticket that you know you were innocent and still either found guilty or paid the fine because it wasn't worth your time? May sound like a small analogy to you but the fact is that there is a major difference between written law and practiced law. This is not a case of agree to disagree , it's slander I have no interest in explaining the intracacies or the legal system or sway your unfounded opinion of a man that you know NOTHING about but instead would hope that others reading the complete waste of dialog understand that Joe saved Outerlimits for the love of boating and continue what his close friend started. I wish the company the best they build an incredible boat! I don't need to go back and forth with you billy boats, people can come to their own conclusions. |
Where did I say "he bought 2 used parts"?????
Re read what I wrote I said he was implicated months after the arrests for card shark were made , only after "2 of the accused said the sold him parts" he was NOT charged with the theft of the boat . In fact the majority of the accused faced charges of conspiricy. Look up the defination. Now stop and imagine this , a few people are arrested and most likely trying to save their own asses. Detective asks what did you do with the parts from all these boats? " well we sold some to joe Sgro "( others named also) . Criminal Conspiracy . That's what they held all of the defendants on until Angelo died, after he died they DA just wanted to keep all the money from seized bank accounts. Others also forfeit the money that was seized but because Sgro's account was large and he is a major fixture in performance boating it remains a topic of discussion. During this time I was approached to buy some parts for a project that I had at the time , thank god I didn't or I might be defending my own character and explaining why I paid money instead of fighting a flawed legal system |

Even if they said I sold parts to whoever. There is no crime committed if you just buy an item that you really have no idea is stolen. The case had a different outcome I.e. Plea deal, restitution. CLEARLY not as innocent as your making out to be. I have no issues with you billy boats. As I mentioned their boat are works of art. But to imply someone is just completely innocent and got dragged into something because ALL he did was buy a few parts and that was it. If that was truly the case he would have never entered that guilty plea. |
Put your balls in a vice grip see if you don't take a guilty plea! There is more to this then anybody will ever know :eek:Texas guys who were never even charged at all????That's where it was stolen from panic head west get caught blame everybody else that's life!

Personally, I would like to thank Matt for originally bringing the report of the new ownership of Outerlimits/reporting on the commitment that Joe has made to the product and the employees of Mike's company... and I would like to applaud those on OSO that kept the integrity of the thread in the nature it was created.
I am sure that it was a decision that wasn't taken lightly by everyone involved as it is Mike Fiore's legacy. Fortunately those that were in control of Mike's company after his tragic passing took the actions they did to keep Outerlimits as we all know it, building boats. Mike's wife Shonda, the Fiore and Whipple Family's, the dedicated employees of Outerlimits, Joe, Mike's close friends and Matt Trulio - all have a reason to be offended by the tangents that this thread has gone off on. The family is still dealing with their loss and this mud slinging/ soap box "holier than thou" critiques of a negative nature (which no one has any personal involvement to critique on) has to give everyone involved are real warm and fuzzy feeling towards people at the moment. Mike was a good down to earth guy that built a beautiful, well engineered craft......now his boats and future designs will now continue! |
Well said speicher lane.

I would of never guessed Outerlimits would be in a financial problem, and enough so that the name gets changed. Never a positive for any company in any business. My opinion if the financial infusion could of been done behind closed doors and the name not change would of been the best for the brand.
Already the new company looks to have plenty of drama from day one. It's a shame. |
My advice to OUTERLIMITS,Build a few different size fast center consoles.I'm sure they would sell well and OL has a built in customer base.
