Good post and agree with everything except the bit about the rest of us buying used boats. There aren't any! As production has dried up on new ones, it flows down the line and good used boats are becoming more and more scarce. Im thinking in a few years time, there will be almost nothing to choose from. Just a small number of hugely depreciated custom built boats and I for one would be scared to own a used custom build because of the engines. A high performance engine that is getting rewards the end of its serviceable life? Not for me.

Well built quality used boats should have long life's and constant motor and drive upkeep is a given with any offshore boats so my point was you can own a 100k top gun that's 10-15 years old and have a nice boat
Maintenance will always be a constant
New top guns are 400-700k with motors and drives that need maintenance after a couple of seasons anyways #6's last 100-150 hours before a 20k/pair rebuild
It's never been a cheap sport or a solid investment but the thrill is undeniable
New performance boats will never see sales like they did 10 years ago and the companies that went under will never come back to what they once were if at all
Sad but true
Kudos to the few that made it
