That is good and bad.

The boat show will happen - thats good.

I wont know where the hell I am going and wont be able to walk to the right areas to see what I want - thats bad.

Nate5.0 12-17-2015 03:32 PM

We are going this year and have no clue what to expect lol.

Worst case scenario we will enjoy South beach for what it is.

Sydwayz 12-17-2015 03:58 PM

Is everyone still going to stay in South Beach? Or is Downtown the place to go this year?
I think logistics are going to be a guaranteed shlt show.

We are doing South beach still but thought about that too.

VoodooRob 12-17-2015 04:09 PM

First time going for us

Keith Atlanta 12-17-2015 05:37 PM

If you dont do south beach at least try to do over by the arts district. Its better than downtown IMO and only a tiny bit furthur.

Touched base with a few folks "in the know" with local logistics of the show, and most are staying in Downtown Miami, and some are taking RVs down to Virginia key.

I've actually stayed in several places in Downtown Miami, and like it a lot. The Mandarin Oriental, Intercontinental, and JW Marriott are all top notch properties.

BUP 12-17-2015 06:26 PM

Last year we rented a young girls apartment for the week as she left for that timeframe. It was cheaper than the hotels and we wee very close to the Marina.

But I know things changed - location. Some of the OEM's are hating this show as I am in know with them. They all have talked about the common problems of transporting along with unloading and loading for the show, parking and distance. IMO some seemed to be not bringing as much stuff for displays. Just saying

Have to look into Wyndham props in downtown.....rewards points out the rear end :D

It will be fun no matter though, never had a bad boat show trip

Cash Bar 12-17-2015 08:59 PM

We moved from our normal rooms on SoBe to the Marriott at Sea Isle. There is no part of the show there this year but they will have a water taxi to the show and it's a quick jump over the Venetian causeway to dinner or party on Sobe.

Jupiter Sunsation 12-17-2015 09:21 PM

I stayed at the Biltmore in Coral Gables one year........it was great and what I saved (vs. SoBe) more than covered the cab fare back/forth. Now with Uber it would be a no brainer to stay there again!

Quinlan 01-05-2016 04:38 PM

Thinking about going. Wife prefers SoBe. What will be the best way to show? Is it even doable from there?

Nate5.0 01-05-2016 04:46 PM

We booked the Shelborne. Just going to Uber to wither the harbor and catch a boat ride in or maybe just Uber the whole way.

Either way it's going to be fun

gmhdfan 01-05-2016 05:02 PM

Anyone know if they will be runny water taxi's from SoBe?

i haven t got a clue what / where sobe is but here you found the places

Nate5.0 01-06-2016 12:06 PM

We will probably Uber to the sail area near the arena and then water taxi over. That way there is still some fun to have while waiting for the shuttle.

Bostonirish 01-06-2016 12:09 PM

Sobe= south beach

You won't be disappointed. Enjoy your time there. Soak it all in! If work permits I will be there for the tail end and the poker run.

Performance Boat Center will have staff in the Cigarette display as well as the Princess Yacht Display in South Beach. Stop by and say hello. We ordered a 50 Marauder and a 42x to display at the show. Both are finishing rigging now and will debut in the show.

Quinlan 01-06-2016 05:55 PM

So is there a water taxi from Sobe? If we go Im sure there will be Several beverages involved so No driving here.

harleyeater 01-06-2016 06:51 PM

I used to live on the Key, driving there will be a cluster and I could not imagine trying to drive under ANY circumstances so I am going to pass this year.

Doesn't look like it but just Uber over to one. I have zero plans of being sober or driving

Can I get on a Princess yacht?

This pickup and drop off spot is going to be a clusterfock from heck. Good luck to you brave enough to try this one.

wananewboat 01-07-2016 08:00 AM

Could you anchor your boat in the bay in front of the show for a couple of days and take a dingy or get a ride in?

Jupiter Sunsation 01-07-2016 08:01 AM

As bad as boat shows have been for performance boats lately I think I will wait for Jayboat or Pete B's pictures instead of attending this year.....and I live about 100 miles from the show and know the area very well. Half the fun of the Miami show was South Beach afterward and you could literally walk there!

Originally, they said yes, that there was going to be an area for this and 'dingy parking' at the show.

However, I see no mention of that on the website anymore. http://www.miamiboatshow.com/
In actuality, I see that as a HUGE security threat if they did allow such.

It's going to be a giant cluster getting to/from the show. The South Beach water taxi location is completely obscure, and I'm sure will be terrible on logistics. I'm thinking it is sound to bring your own inflatable PFD if you plan to use the water taxis.

I'm starting to wish I'd have left my Harley in South Florida when we just went down for New Years.
Years ago, I used to rent a Harley to get around for the show. I may try and do the same this year. Or at least a scooter.

You just found your 'pop-up store' business idea.

Greg, I'm coming down from Lauderdale for the day on Saturday. Should I just park at the arena and hop a ride on the water taxi? Tyler

I would park at AAA or Bayside. Go early, leave early. Or, it will cost a bit more to park but only about 1 mile north is the Marriott marina.

Not feeling it this year. Hard to imagine the same energy not being on South Beach
