it actually sounds more treacherous than it is, theres stuff to hit but probably no more then anywhere else. Its somewhat seasonal, prevailing winds in the fall shift to out of the SW and it pretty much drains the basin when it really blows.

depends on the wind, the entire west end is pretty shallow, I have seen pretty much the entire maumee bay emptied but that is only 8 feet or so at the deepest, mostly about 5 to 6 feet.

This shows about a 3 foot change and its not really blowing out...

Agreed. Have them tell that to my buddy who swam the Mackinac Straights over labor day! He calculates he swam eight miles in 3 to 4s and it is only 5 miles across! He is crazy for sure.

Looked at a 290 PQ down there years ago(Monroe). It was still winter and we went into rack storage area. All but two boats had broken Skaggs . That was the first time someone explained the water level change to me.

Here's "high tide" today. Notice the steam from the stacks blowing today. Opposite from the south west. Like north east or nne. This direction fills our end of the lake and makes for extree long put in bay or Kelly's weekends. :lolhit:
