The rifle with the scope is a 35 Rem. The others are 44 mag, 45 colt, 375 Win, 45/70 and 358 Win. The pistol is 44 mag. The dog is 57 pounds of pure catch dog. I like the levers for hog hunting for the fast reloading, and injured boar is an ill tempered critter. I have since found the pump action rifle (Rem 760 and 7600) are even faster reloading when laying on your belly under the briars face to face with a hog. Kinda hard to work the lever on your belly. I have pumps in 358 Win and 35 Whelen.
Went out last Sunday and caught a hog with the dog. 125# boar.

Hey cuda,
Checked your web site. Nice little bunch of "Red Riders" for getting peegs. I haven't hunted for many years - Texas is just way too $$$ since everything is private land and leased. Works well to keep the herds managed though. I used to pig hunt when I was stationed in Beaufort SC when I was a young green machine. Friend used to take us out into the swampy areas around Savanna Ga and we had us a blast. Used a Marlin .44 Mag mostly then.
Been wanting to try out dem peegs again as they're the cheapest hunt we've got here. Been thinking a perfect combo would be my M-1 Garand loaded with 220 gr rnsp's and my .45 auto on backup would be just the ticket. 8 fast rounds with quick reloads. Smaller caliber but then the .30-06 is still good power when coupled with the heavier bullets. Might try loading them with Barnes X-bullets too for the penetration. Still want to try out a flinter on one. Been hankering after a smoothbore Virginia style for my buckskinning fun. 20 ga/.62 round ball or 11ga/.75 cal loaded as a buck & ball combo would be interesting.

My gf got one two years ago with a black powder. She's tough, had to drag it almost a half mile to the road where I picked her up. 130# sow. I got about a 40 pounder last year in almost the same place, and dragging it out damn near killed me. Glad I didn't get a shot at the big one I saw just before that.
